Givenchy deny rumours of an H&M collaboration

The French fashion house has shut down rumours of a possible high street collection

Givenchy has denied that it is the next design house to collaborate with H&M.

Rumours were swirling last night of a possible partnership between the Swedish retailer and French design house, after one post on Tumblr sent speculation into overdrive.

The post from Fashion Industry Confessions website read: "Rumours straight from the Givenchy head quarters have it they will collaborate with H&M next year."

This then spurred a series of excited tweets across the internet.

Since then Givenchy has denied the collaboration reports, while H&M has simply refused to comment on the gossip.

At the Margiela for H&M launch creative adviser, Margareta Van Den Bosch told the Telegraph that there will be no new designer collaboration from the retailer any time soon.

“We will not have any [collaborations] for spring [2013]” she said. “We decided to skip it, as we have had so many this year. So it’ll be something for next November.”

When rumours of a H&M collaboration surface, they usually end up being correct. So all is not lost, a H&M x Givenchy collection could happen?

Riccardo Tisci, creative director of Givenchy hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a partnership as he told the New York Magazine in 2009 that he would like to “one day” work with H&M.

Riccardo’s designs are loved by celebrities and models alike. Rihanna is regularly spotted in a Givenchy creation, while Gisele Bundchen and Beyonce have opted for one of Riccardo's red carpet gowns in the past.
