Get Your Knit On: The Kama Sutra Gets A Woolley Make-Over

If you thought knitting was boring, one knitter from Lewes is keen to change your mind - with a Kama Sutra collection.

Creator Geraldine Warnertook five months coming up with the characters and created 12 sex scene positions to satisfy the keenest of stichers.

She says: “Knitting is seen as a safe, traditional, comfortable medium. It is interesting to see what happens when you use it in a different context.

“Knitting is hugely popular again, which means there’s room for experimentation.

“As much as I love my hobby, it can become a bit repetitive if you stick to the same thing over and over again."

She continued: "I’m on a mission to get knitters to be more ambitious and experiment with their craft.”

Geraldine admits that it might not be to everyone’s taste.

“Possibly some people might feel uncomfortable with the combination of yarn and sex because they think sex should be a deadly serious pursuit, or because knitting can still carry images of homely grandmas knitting by the fireside,” said the 48 year-old.

“No-one likes to think of their grandma having sex!”

Geraldine, who uses the pseudonym ‘Trixie Von Purl,’ admitted to pushing herself in both sex and sewing to complete the project.

Geraldine explains: “I always like to challenge myself in terms of techniques and I think that comes through in the patterns.

"I’d probably say I adopt a similar approach to my love life. Ahem."
