Winter is still gripping us and that means hardy foods are still at their best. Here are the foods in season this month. We've linked all the foods that we currently have recipes for.

Vegetables
Winter veg is still very much on the agenda with beetroot, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celeriac, Jerusalem artichokes, kale, swede and turnips are still good. And adding a dash of colour to our plates are purple sprouting broccoli, rhubarb and spinach.

Meat
Game season continues, with guinea fowl, hare, rabbit and venison all still on the menu. If you fancy some white meat, mallard, partridge and wood pigeon are all good seasonal options.

Seafood
There’s still good shellfish to be had. Rye Bay in East Sussex celebrates the mighty scallop at the end of the month. And clams, cockles, crab, mussels and oysters are all great catches.

Fruit
Native apples and pears are still around. From overseas, blood oranges can add colour and flavour to everything from porridge to salads to puddings.
