How do You Feel About Kristen Stewart’s Zuhair Murad Gown: Shocking Or Sophisticated?

When it comes to high stakes fashion, sheer fabrics are right up there. Get it right and you’ve nailed a sexy but elegant look, but get it wrong – which let’s be honest is more often than not the case – you’ll not only have flashed your flesh to the world, but you’ll also look low-rent.

As you can see from the gallery above, the sheerly-there look has – despite the pitfalls - been one of the most popular red-carpet looks of late. Last night was a case in point as A-list enfant terrible, Kristen Stewart delighted us with a Zuhair Murad lace panelled nude gown at the Breaking Dawn Part 2 LA premiere. While we are all in agreement that K-Stew has become a red carpet goddess, and we love the overall look, there has been a heated debate in the office over the level of flesh flashing going on. So do you think that if you’ve got it you should flaunt it? Or are there sartorial perils in letting it all hang out? Read both sides of debate below and let us know your thoughts!

Sheerly Shocking

For my tastes the sheer lace panels around K-Stew’s lady garden, are a touch de trop. To be absolutely honest it’s all I can look at. I can’t fault Kristen’s confidence, and I love her combination of nude gown and gothic lip, but it’s the visible inner thigh curvature (strangely I don’t have so much of a problem with her bum view) which really sets my teeth on edge. It’s like she’s wearing nude granny pants with American tan tights layered on top, which is clearly a whole world of wrong. My advice is to go for heavier lace to disguise the crotch area and leave the sheer action for your pins – all the sex appeal, none of the camel hoof attention.

Sheer Simplicity

I say, if you've got it, flaunt it and Ms Stewart has it in spades. There are only very few women in the world who can pull off naked on the red carpet - and let's face it, that's pretty much what this is. There's a Fifties foundation garment structure underpinning this gown too, however, which not only nods to the exaggerated femininity of the new season but is also quite a radical departure from her normally more obviously fashion-forward attire. Then we have the dark red sirenesque lip which is only ever a good thing and - my favourite styled but not styled detail - the subtle jewellery that looks like its worn by our heroine day in, day out in a Balenciaga spring/summer 2013 kind of a way.
