Fearne Cotton EXCLUSIVE: 'Being pregnant doesn't mean I have to dress like a mum!'

Holly Willoughby’s best friend talks exclusively to Yahoo! Lifestyle about her maternity style, pregnancy beauty saviours and which celebrity she wants to have playdates with

Fearne Cotton’s pregnancy style has been on our radar ever since she announced the happy news that she's expecting her first baby with rocker boyfriend Jesse Wood earlier this year.

The Radio 1 DJ, 31, has hosted red carpet coverage for the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes and has a successful clothing range with fashion e-tailer Very.co.uk. So it's no wonder that since announcing her pregnancy, all eyes have been keenly trained on that burgeoning baby bump, and more importantly, the clothes that cover it.

“Maternity wear is so boring. Some places do OK stuff but mostly I’ve been wearing stuff that I would normally wear in a bigger size.”

Fearne said she sticks to dresses and skirts with tights in her pregnancy © RexBut Fearne admitted she has had to adapt her wardrobe slightly in order to accommodate her growing baby bump.

“Normally I would perhaps put on a pair of skinny jeans and a t-shirt and I cannot wear that now!” she laughed.

“I’m just sort of wearing a lot more tights and dresses which is fine by me.

“I still sort of catch myself wearing Vans and a hoodie like a teenager and I think ‘can I pull this off?” she joked.

But despite sometimes questioning her own fashion choices, Fearne told us she's confident in what she wears and advised other expectant mums to do the same.

“It’s all about going for it. I’m still young and have fun!” she told us.

Fearne with the father of her child, Jesse Wood © RexFearne also admitted she has a maternity style crush on actress Sienna Miller, who had baby Marlowe in July this year.

“I think Sienna Miller is amazing, I absolutely adore her and she just looks so f**king cool all the time, pregnant or not,” she told us.

“I just absolutely love that woman. She didn’t change her style at all during her pregnancy so I love that.”
Fearne told us she hasn’t had a chance to visit the actress since she gave birth to baby Marlowe but says she would ‘love’ to and when we mention playdates, she lit up.

“Oh my God, that would be a dream come true!” she said.

Fearne also revealed to us that she tries harder with her make-up now that she’s pregnant.

“I think you make more of an effort because you don’t feel naturally as great so you have to slap it on a bit more,” she told us.

She revealed she’s a fan of the YSL Touche Eclat - “I’m dark under the eyes most days so I absolutely love it!” – Burt’s Bees Lipbalm and Mamo Mio body butter, a “lifesaver” for preventing stretchmarks.

“I’m just looking at how I can maintain my body and keep it in some sort of tact over this bizarre process!” she said.

“Not really, I think people always want to tell you stuff when they’ve had a baby but she’s just been like ‘enjoy it, make the most of it’”, she said.

“A lot of the time you can’t tell people what to do when they’re pregnant because it’s so different.

“You’ve just got to do your own thing, so she’s been good at not giving advice which I appreciate!” she said.

Fearne's new gift packs of 'Fearne Cotton make up' are available in Boots stores nationwide.
