Duchess Of Cambridge Starts New Trend With Vintage Pram Used At Princess Charlotte’s Christening

Is this the start of the Princess Charlotte effect?

Opinion was divided when Kate Middleton rocked up at her daughter’s christening on July 5 with a vintage Millson Prince pram in tow.

Some parents thought the pram, which the Queen used for two of her own kids in the early 1960s, was too stuffy and old fashioned while others considered it to be a beautiful touch to the family event. And of course it was pretty thrifty of Kate to recycle it like that – if only for one day.

But whatever everyone’s immediate thoughts on the old-school buggy, it’s caused sales of the vintage prams to surge – like everything else that Kate touches.

Prams with Pizazz, which restores coach-built prams, has seen a huge surge in sales since Princess Charlotte’s christening last weekend.

The company owner, Scott Frew, says that since the youngest royal’s big day out they’ve received a huge number of orders.

“We are so busy we are considering taking on more staff,” Frew told Mail Online. “Everyone wants a pram like Princess Charlotte’s and the waiting list for delivery is more than four months now.”

While the Millson isn’t Kate’s own set of wheels, the Duchess has used a similar class pram previously. She was papped pushing a four-month-old Prince George around in a £650 Silver Cross pram in Kensington Gardens in 2013, which is another very classic pushchair brand.

Kate is also reported to own a blue Bugaboo, which she purchased before George’s birth, that rings in at a hefty £1,200.

It’s not known whether she and Wills have splashed out on a new buggy for Charlotte – but considering the teeny tot has three (or more) prams to be carted from A to B in, we doubt she minds.
