Do Parents Go Overboard At Easter? Children Set To Receive Over £50 Worth Of Chocolate Eggs EACH This Weekend

They chow down on an average of eight Easter eggs, which is around 8,000 calories

Child obesity is a growing concern in the UK – and clearly celebrations like Easter don’t help.

We’re all for letting go and having a good time during the holidays but £50+ worth of chocolate eggs per child is a tad excessive, don’t you think?

Especially as it adds up to be around 8,000 calories that children will be consuming this Easter weekend – and that’s on top of the normal meals and drinks that they usually have.

And while some parents make sure their children eats only a little chocolate each day, the majority of kids eat their treats over four days.

Other parents have a different way of dealing with the influx of chocolate all together – they admit to scoffing their tot’s eggs before they even received them. Genius.

The amount the average parent spends on their little one may not seem that high (they tend to shell out £25 per child), friends and family members spend a further £31 on Easter treats – bringing the UK average up to £56 per child, the survey, conducted by vouchercloud.com, revealed.

But the indulging doesn’t just stop at chocolate. Some 43 per cent of the 2,118 British parents polled said they give their children money for Easter, 41 per cent give confectionary that’s not chocolate eggs and 36 per cent give their tot toys.

A little over 20 per cent treat their children to craft items and 13 per cent give their little one something else.
