High-end frocks designed by the likes of Valentino, Oscar de la Renta and Versace to go under the hammer for Great Ormand Street Hospital

Designer dresses inspired by Disney's princesses are to go up for auction to raise money for charity, it was announced today.

The frocks – created by high-end designers including Valentino, Versace and Marchesa – will go under the hammer to raise money for Great Ormand Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

To coincide with Christie’s annual Vintage Couture sale in London, ten lucky bidders will be able to get their hands on these exclusive one-of-a-kind pieces.

Each stunning dress is inspired by the classic Disney princesses, including Ariel, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Cinderella and Snow White.

The designer responsible for each dress’ interpretation has brought their own personal twist to it – with Roberto Cavalli handcrafting his Pocahontas frock with a one-shouldered design.

“The rarity of these items mixed with the global appeal of Disney Princesses will make these extremely sought-after, and we expect much interest from around the world,” she added.

All proceeds from the auction will go towards Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, which Walt Disney has supported over the years – paying a visit himself in 1951.

Harrods and Disney collaborated in 2008 with the aim of raising £10 million towards the London children’s hospital’s redevelopment.

“We are delighted that Disney enthusiasts and fashion fans will now have the chance to own a piece of the magic with this once-in-a-lifetime auction whilst also helping us to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity which we’ve been supporting for many years,” said Matthew Grossman, Vice President of Corporate Citizenship, The Walt Disney Company EMEA.
