Could Chocolate Strips Be The Answer To Weight Loss?

Flavoured film that melts on the mouth and contains no calories promises to be the answer to our diet prayers

For those of us constantly falling off the healthy eating wagon thanks to our penchant for the taste of chocolate, cake and crisps, there could be a solution.

Boffins in the US have created a Listerine-style tongue strip that can be imbued with any flavour you like, giving you the taste of what you crave without the calories.

Cravings creator Ian Goldfarb is raising money for the project using Kickstarter and explains that his own rubbish self restraint and inability to operate portion control led him to regularly write off an entire week of healthy eating by giving into unhealthy cravings and going on a binge.

Goldfarb writes: "For years I've been following the standard regiments of working out and watching what I eat, but I've always felt like something was missing.

"I constantly get cravings that lead to binge eating sessions... and then I counteract a full week of healthy diet and exercise.

"So why is this happening? What solutions are available that will allow me to not only stay on diet, but also satisfy my cravings?"

To solve his own problem, Goldfarb created Cravings, the first of which are chocolate flavoured.

Chocolate is one of our biggest cravings with 40 per cent of women and 15 per cent of men admitting it tops their wants list regularly.

Even though this might be the saddest way you can eat chocolate ever.

But if your inability to say no to real chocolate is seeing your waistline balloon, it could be the lesser of two evils. A calorie-free chocolate simulation that will knock cravings on the head without any sugar.

Sadly for Goldfarb, the Kickstarter project didn't gain enough donations in the timeframe to go ahead. We're sure someone will pick up this idea in no time though, and chocolate strips will be on the shelves next to the breath fresheners for when we need a pick-me-up. But we'll probably just take the occasional bar, thanks.
