Christmas Planning Apps: These Will Save You From Last Minute Panics
Not organised your turkey yet? Have no fear, one of these apps could save the day.
Whether you've run out of time to post your Christmas cards, you've still not got the perfect sequinned dress or your tree is looking distinctly lacklustre, we're all familiar with the last minute Christmas panic!
If you've left everything until Christmas eve, there might be no saving you, but if you've got a few days to spare, these apps might just save the day.
1) Find The Perfect Dress
App: Shopstyle
Available: iPhone, iPad, free
Dreaming of a sequin minidress? Shopstyle can help you find the exact store that sells the particular item you are searching for. For the shopping-obsessed, who aren't looking for "a black dress" but rather "a body-con faux leather black mini dress with three-quarter-length sleeves and an embellished collar", Shopstyle searches a massive database of online stores, high street and designer.
So you needn'tworry that you'll be upstaged by your Great Auntie Lynn, because the internet has the answer. Phew.
2) Getting The Right Present
App: Addwish
Available: iPhone, iPad, free
If your mind’s too taken up with what to give your Secret Santa this year at work, you can at least make buying gifts for your family a doddle.
Addwish lets you create, plan and share wishlists with your family or friends – a smart way to ensure you don’t all get Mum the same pair of slippers this year.
3) Forget Paper Cards
App: Touchnote
Christmas edition: iPhone, iPad, free
Let’s face it, hand-written is so last century, and you’re simply too busy to sit there licking stamps for an hour.
Save time on your round-robin this year with Touchnote, which sends out speedy personalised Christmas cards from your phone in a matter of taps. Paperless Post is also a great option and has a handy app that lets you see who has opened your card or who has RSVP'd to an invite.
4) Turkey To Your Door
App: Hungryhouse
Available: iPhone, iPad, free
Never cooked a turkey before? You may never have to. If, like us, you’re a big fan of the ‘Come Dine With Me’ contestant that passed off takeaway food as her own, delivery app hungryhouse is sure to be up your street. A couple of taps, and you’ll have turkey and all the trimmings ready to serve.
5) Book a Festive Getaway
App: Top10
Available: iPhone, iPad, free
Reward yourself after Christmas with a romantic mini break far away from screaming children, complaining grandparents and annoying cousins. This year could be time to deck the halls with boughs of hol-iday, and Top10 Hotels makes it super-easy, using your preferences to recommend ten quality hotels at the best available price, and booking is done in-app, too, so you’ll barely need to lift a finger.
