As Emmanuelle Alt’s predecessor as Editor of French Vogue, Carine Roitfeld has had a pretty A-list fashion career. Having styled campaigns for Chanel and Givenchy, starred in and designed the Barneys New York's windows as well as collaborating with V and W magazines – brand Roitfeld is as strong as ever, even post- Vogue.
Since leaving Vogue, all eyes have been on Carine, to see what her next move will be. And now after months of speculation, she has finally shed a little light on what we can expect…and it is looks like it is a new magazine! Thrilled! Carine is at Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibition in Tokyo this week, which she collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld on. After having to leave Tokyo early to fly to New York for magazine meetings, the cat was well and truly out of the bag. Carine spoke to industry insider magazine WWD, saying “It will come out twice a year and resemble a book. There will be no front of the book section and its emphasis will be fashion with a lot of freedom.” Sounds both mysterious, and uber-fashion. Very Carine!
In the world of magazines though, the publication house that will publish Carine’s new mag will determine the tone, style and reach of the new bi-annual. Rumour has it that the media group that owns Visionaire, V Magazine and VMan will be behind the new magazine, which is seriously cool company to keep. We wait with baited breath Ms Roitfeld!
