Women Must Never Deny Their Husbands Sex Even ‘On A Camel’ According To Islamic Scholar

Perak Mufti Tam Sri Harussani Zakaria: 'Muslim women have no right to deny a man sex'

A Malaysian Islamic scholar has claimed that Muslim women have ‘no right’ to deny a man sex. Ever. Even on a camel.

Perak Mufti Tam Sri Harussani Zakaria told Malay Mail Online: “Even the Prophet says even when they’re riding on the back of the camel, when the husband asks her, she must give.”

The scholar also insisted that the idea of marital rape does not exist in Islam, saying that rape can only exist outside of marriage.

“There’s no such thing as rape in marriage. This is made by European people, why should we follow?”

According to the Quran, it is forbidden for men to have sex with women while they are on their period.

Zakaria went one further to say the only times a woman can refuse their husband sex is when she is menstruating, sick or has just given birth.

While marital rape is not illegal in Malaysia, if a husband uses violence to force his wife into having sex with him he can be jailed for up to five years.

The cleric’s comments come a week after the launch of a rape awareness campaign by the All Women’s Action Society (AWAM), with some Muslims angered by posters which read: “Without her consent, it is rape. No excuse”.

One of the biggest issues the ‘No Excuse To Rape’ campaign is fighting is to have marital rape recognised as a crime in Malaysia.

A spokesperson for the society claimed: “To say that a husband has the license to rape his wife is incredibly shocking.

“Entering into a marriage does not mean that a woman’s body belongs to her husband and she is subject to his every whim. Women do not lose their basic human rights just because they enter into marriage.”
