The young royal was joined by his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but it’s the first time a baby has appeared on the cover unofficially

The most famous baby in the world – who turns one on July 22 – is only the second baby to feature on the cover, and apepars alongside parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

He follows in the footsteps of Suri Cruise who appeared on the cover in 2006 alongside parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

But unlike Suri, who was photographed for the magazine by celeb snapper Annie Leibovitz, Prince George's cover shot was taken from the media's holiday snaps of his visit to Australia

The young royal was pictured at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney as part of the family’s first official tour down under in April 2014 – when he was nine months old.

Vanity Fair say the reason they didn’t do a sit-down photoshoot with the future prince was because he was ‘too busy’.

But the fact that neither Prince William nor Kate Middleton has been photographed for a magazine suggests they don’t want their faces – or their son’s - plastered across them.

They weren’t interviewed for the cover either and instead their royal correspondent Katie Nicholl reported on the famous family to celebrate Prince George turning one.

According to the magazine, he was quite the handful as a newborn and wouldn’t sleep through the night.

“For the first few months, the prince cried loudly and frequently, and he was not sleeping through the night,” wrote Nicholl.

“Nanny Jessie Webb tried hard to get him into a routine, but the baby prince, who was still breastfeeding, was permanently hungry.”

She also wrote that Kate and William are hoping to conceive another child and suggested George could soon have a little brother or sister.

“There are rumours among the couple’s friends that they plan to try this summer,” she wrote.
