Oscars 2015: Reese Witherspoon Wants Red Carpet Reporters To Ask Questions OTHER Than ‘What Are You Wearing?’

The actress used the awards ceremony as an opportunity to promote the #AskHerMore campaign to encourage red carpet reporters to refrain from asking stars about ‘who they’re wearing’ – after the Mani Cam is cancelled

Granted, we do want to know what the celebrities that walk the red carpet at glamourous events like the Oscars 2015 are wearing – but we also would love to know a bit more about them.

Which is why we’re thrilled about Reese Witherspoon’s new mission – to get red carpet reporters to think outside the box and ask some more exciting questions to the celebrities they see.

The actress took to her Instagram account last night to promote the #AskHerMore campaign, which is urging people to think a bit harder about the questions they fire at the women on the red carpet.

We can understand Reese’s frustration; it must be dull repeating "Tom Ford!" (which, incidently, Reese was wearing) to dozens of different interviewers when you’ve got a whole lot more interesting information stored up inside you to share.

“I love this movement #AskHerMore… have you heard of it? It’s meant to inspire reporters to ask creative questions on the red carpet,” the blonde beauty posted on her Instagram account.

“I love the Oscars AND fashion like many of you - & am excited to share #WhoAmIWearing later tonight. But I’d also love to answer some of these Qs…. And hear your suggestions?! (Share em below!) There are so many amazing, talented nominees this year…! Let’s hear their stories! Spread the word.”

The actress continued her post with a photo of some question ideas, including,
“What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken that you feel has paid off?”

Reese also spoke about the movement on the red carpet, saying, “This is movement to say we’re more than just our dresses… It’s hard being a woman in Hollywood.”

Time For Change
Reese isn’t the only female star to take a stand.

Patricia Arquette and Julianne Moore are two other famous faces who are asking the world to take women more seriously – and see them for more than the dress they wear.

The campaign push comes after the mass rejection of E!’s Mani Cam, which first put it an appearance at the 2012 Emmy Awards.

Many stars refused to walk their manicured hands down a mini-red carpet and, thankfully, it was noticeably missing from last night’s ceremony. Apparently because of “issues with space”. Sure.

Best supporting actress winner Patricia Arquette commented on the disappearance of it, saying, “Instead of getting a manicure this morning for the dreaded mani-cam, I ended up trying to pull pictures because we started a sweepstake for charity to do ecological sanitation of the world.

“And then I saw Harry Belafonte’s picture up there it reminded me of my mom, who was an equal rights activist. She worked for civil rights and this is who I am, this is the whole of who I am, I love my business, I love action and I love being a human being and I want to help.”
