If Robbie Williams Live Tweeted Our Labour, We Probably Wouldn't Be Very Nice About It

Is it ever okay to film your wife in agony and put it on the internet

Okay, it's finally happened.

The internet has gone crazy.

Or rather, Robbie Williams has gone crazy and he's putting it all on the internet for everyone to see.

In case you missed it, Robbie is currently LIVE TWEETING (and filming) his wife Ayda giving birth.

He's Doing WHAT Now?

For centuries, women have had to cope with men's relative uselessness during the giving birth process.

While some men hold hands and whisper soothing encouragement, others fall weak under pressure, faint or outright refuse to be in the room.

OR, in the case of Robbie Williams, they prance around like buffoons, capturing your intense pain on film and broadcasting it out to anyone with a passing interest.

Filming the birthing process isn't new, but most understand it to be a private moment, captured on film in order to be relived (or not, because really who wants to go through that again?!) by the people for whom that moment was meaningful.

Most of these films end up stored in an unmarked box in the attic.

For poor Ayda Field, though, this isn't the case.

Is This Okay?

Most people who've cottoned on to what Robbie is doing have called him out for being selfish, media obssessed and inconsiderate of his wife's condition.

Many have suggested that she ought to punch him in the face for being so cavalier during such an important moment.

And while we absolutely don't condone violence, we rather agree that he deserves a good talking to.

In most of the imagery he's been tweeting out, his wife genuinely looks like she is in terrible agony.

In other videos, he seems to have forgotten Ayda altogether, focusing the camera instead on his own face.

So in an age where social media has become the most prevalent means of communication, is this sort of behaviour every okay?

Perhaps there is an argument for it!

A while ago we brought you the story of Emily Letts, who filmed her own abortion process in order to make it less scary for other women going through the same ordeal.

Although the video was controversial, with a lot of people assuming she was motivated to do it for selfish reasons, many others thought what she had done was brave and, above all, useful.

She didn't normalise the abortion process, but she showed other women that it needn't be as horrifying as they might have assumed it would be and she showed them a very human story of someone who had gone through the same thing.

This video, however, was a planned response to a widely misunderstood process.

More than this, though, it was clearly Emily's choice.

And Ayda?

Well, some people have suggested that there is a positive, in that the WHOLE WORLD is now Ayda Field's birthing partner.

The messages of support have been pouring in from all corners of the globe!

But is this really what Ayda wants?

Robbie Williams is a self-confessed egomaniac - he's been quoted as saying: "I have a gigantic ego and need to be at the top of the pile" (Telegraph).

So it's pretty hard to imagine that this latest stunt is anything other than a selfish attempt to attract more column inches and gain more Twitter followers.

And yes, we are aware that we've just played right into his hands.

Darn.

Ayda love, if we were you, we'd probably use every last bit of energy during that final push to kick out somewhere around groin level.
