EXCLUSIVE: Watch Diane Kruger Perfectly Sum Up Why We Need To #AskHerMore

'I'm an actress, I have a job, I have a life. There so many other things that you would ask a man but you wouldn't ask a woman.'

Diane Kruger is the latest star to speak out against the reductive questions that women in Hollywood are constantly asked on the red carpet.

Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Lifestyle UK, the 38-year-old admitted that despite having an eye for fashion she wishes her interviews were slightly more in-depth.

"I think as a woman...I am interested in fashion and make-up and all those things but I actually am interested in other stuff in life!

The tide is turning for inane questions about Spanx and beauty regimes thanks to a growing movement started by Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler’s #AskHerMore campaign.

The viral hashtag invites journalists and media outlets to go beyond the standard superficial questions that many of Hollywood’s leading ladies are faced with time and time again on the red carpet.

At the Elle Style Awards in London, Yahoo reporter Poppy Jamie spoke to Diane about her first-hand experiences of these kinds of questions and what questions she wished people would ask her.

“What is was like to create this character? What is was like to be part of this crew and this industry?

“A lot of journalists in this industry don’t even go to see the movie. They stand on the red carpet and they don’t really know what this person has done or what they’re in so it makes it a little superficial.

“I’m not saying it needs to be super deep and intense all the time but it would be nice, as a woman, to be asked other things.”

Diane was in attendance at the awards ceremony to pick up the award for TV Actress of the Year.

When asked who she would pick as her Woman of the Year, ‘The Bridge’ star was full of praise for her fellow actresses as well as the female director of her upcoming feature film.

“I think Lupita Nyong’o is really remarkable, I love Kerry Washington – I think she’s a very smart lady.

“My female director [Fabienne Berthaud] I made a movie with called ‘Sky’ – she really brought it, so she’s my hero.”

After Reese Witherspoon refused to talk about her outfit at the Oscars and the growing popularity of the #AskHerMore trend, it looks like successful women like Diane may actually get a chance to talk about more than their manicure tips and how they miraculously lost all that baby weight.
