Obviously us lesser mortals can only dream of affording daily professional help but fear not, today I’ve laid out some easy tips on using lip liner to accentuate your everyday lip look. No makeup artist or Instagram filters required.

Lip liners are a great tool which have somewhat been forgotten about since the 90’s.

A lip liner is the perfect complement to your lipstick and can make lips look bigger, define your lips and even help your lipstick last longer. It’s all about the colour and texture!

And who knows this better than Kim Kardashian herself?

Go Nude With One Shade Paler

Picking a lighter shade than your natural skintone softens the lip line, diffusing the natural edge and making your lips look bigger than they are.

The colour of choice all depends on your actual skin tone, but try lining the outer edges of your lips with a pale pastel neutral - something like MAC Lip Liner in Naked £12.50 or GOSH Velvet Touch Lip Liner in Angel Kiss £4.99 – a waterproof liner for smudgeproof staying power.

Define With A Sweep Of Ivory.

Little sister Kendall is taking the fashion world by storm, and this beauty technique is a backstage favourite used at shows all around the world.

The trick is to add lights and darks to your natural lip line – like cheek contouring but only on your cupids bow.

For this, a white or ivory liner is the perfect choice. It has the same illuminating impact as lining your eyes with white liner (if you don’t know about this trick, get to know!!)

White lip liners are much harder to come by, but I’ve found some! Try Sleek Eau La La Liner in White Noise £4.99 or try Mac Chromagraphic Lip Liner in Pure White £14 which is super intense and can be blended down to your desired effect.

Get Big With Rose Tones

Probably the most famous of the family for her plump pout, Kylie Jenner apparently uses MAC Lipliner in Whirl and Soar, along with a swipe of Mac lipstick in Velvet Teddy of course!

The idea is to use neutral brown tones with a hint of rose to keep the look sophisticated and chic, rather than girly and pretty.

To make your lips look like Kylie Jenner’s, you need to line over your cupids bow so that the top of your lips are more of a smooth arc rather than a V shape.

Recreate Kylie’s look for cheaper by substituting the MAC Lip Liner for Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Spice £2.99.

California Cool With Caramel Shades

BFF to the Kardashian klan is Gigi Hadid, relatively unknown in the UK but forging a career as a successful model.

An LA girl at heart, Gigi’s look is much warmer and natural so avoid pink tones and try brown-based shades like caramel and beige for the ultimate in ‘no makeup’ makeup. I like Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillowtalk £16 because the formula is really wearable.

A cheaper option is No7 Precision Lips Pencil in Caramel £6.75, which is super fine and easy to use so you can get a really clean, thin line.

Amp Up The Drama With Red

Kendall’s partner in crime at Fashion Week is Cara Delevigne, current face of Burberry Beauty. With a shared ex in Harry Styles, they’re key fixtures on the Chanel catwalk and both know how to rock a good lip!

Be bold like Cara and enhance your favourite high-impact red lippie with Burberry Beauty Lip Definer in Brick Red £15.50 or Revlon ColorStay Lip Liner in Red.

Lining your lips before you apply your lipstick will ensure your pout lasts as long as you do!
