Samantha Barks vs Ashley James: Who wore this French Connection short suit best?

We all know that the most interesting thing about a celeb party is who wore what.

So it's no surprise that actress Samantha Barks and reality star Ashley James became the talking point of the French Connection #CantHelpMySelfie launch on Wednesday after showing up in the SAME outfit.

And to add insult to injury, both stars seemed to have styled the £285 short suit in pretty much the same way.

While they both added a black cami top under the embellished jacket and tucked into the matching shorts, they went in different directions when it came to their footwear.

Les Mis actress Samantha went down a more sophisticated route with a pair of simple black court shoes while the former Made In Chelsea star wore on-trend clunky black platforms.

And Ashley worked her slightly more edgy look into the rest of her outfit, carrying a bright yellow, clashing clutch and mis-matched bangles on her wrists.

But Sam stuck with her more classic vibe, carrying a padded Dior shoulder bag and very minimal jewellery.

Despite the rather awkward situation (it's every girl's secret party nightmare) both girls managed to look super stylish in their patterned shorts. Phew!

Sam and Ashley weren't the only fashion-conscious celebs at the Regent Street bash, as we spotted an array of stylish starlets tucking into Tia Maria cocktails and mini burritos (nom).

Gorgeous model Jack Guinness was on the decks with Nina Nesbitt while Lilah Parsons, Diana Vickers and Neon Jungle were all taking turns in the interactive selfie booth, in collaboration with Somewhat.

We also ran into Made In Chelsea girls Louise Thompson, Binky Felstead (minus Alex) and Rosie Fortescue who were busy party-hopping.

And to assuage the awkward outfit situation, Samantha later re-emerged in an entirely different outfit - having swapped her shorts suit for a plain black skater dress.

Oh, to be a A-lister, eh?!
