Rebel Wilson Opens Up About Being A Reluctant Plus-Size Style Icon

She’s more famous for her comedic wit than her wardrobe choices.

But actress Rebel Wilson has admitted that she is starting to take her role as a plus-sized style icon more seriously.

Making her debut on the cover of Elle UK, the 29-year-old ‘Pitch Perfect’ 2 star opened up about fashion – including knowing very little about it…

“I am the type of girl with zero fashion sense but I am getting into it now. It’s becoming important for me,” she said.

The Aussie actress even went as far as saying that she takes more of an interest in her sartorial choices as she represents the minority of plus-sized women in Hollywood.

“I saw a lot of girls were beginning to notice what I wear and I feel a kind of responsibility, because there aren’t any women in Hollywood my size and age,” she said.

But if you thought Rebel was all about designer this and expensive that, think again, because the blonde beauty is just as fond of high-street names as she is Haute Couture.

In fact, she was praised by critics recently for sporting a £35 ASOS Curve dress on the red carpet in London – even drawing comparisons to our very own Duchess of Cambridge.

“[Me wearing ASOS] got a lot of attention!” she told ASOS.

“Everyone was like, ‘You did a Kate Middleton and wore a lovely dress that everyone can afford!’ and I was like, ‘Oh yeah, Kate Middleton and I are a lot alike!"’

However while Rebel makes no secret of being plus-size (she even makes herself the butt of her own ‘fat girl’ jokes), she leads a healthy lifestyle in order to survive lengthy stints on-set.

“You need to be physically strong for this job. I like to have the stamina to work 16 hours a day. I may eat a lot, but I am very healthy,” she told Elle UK.
