Oscars 2015: How To Work The Red Carpet Fashion Trends Without Breaking The Bank

You don't have to spend a fortune to look a million-dollars...

It was arguably THE biggest night of the fashion calendar with everyone from Beyonce to Jennifer Lopez gracing the red carpet.

But while the A-Listers spent thousands of dollars to look incredible at the Oscars 2015, there's very little chance of us mere mortals ever being able to afford to look like them.

OR IS THERE?

We've rounded up the top five Academy Awards red carpet trends that we can actually afford to replicate on the high-street.

Yep, from wearing THE colour of the season to rocking cut-outs, you CAN look like an Oscars superstar on a shoestring budget...

Cornflower Crazy

Yes, we saw reds, we saw nudes and we saw winter whites, but it was the blue hues that really caught our eye on the night of the Oscars. Amy Adams (wearing Atelier Versace) and Sofia Vergara (in Zuhair Murad) led the stars wearing cornflower a blue - a shade we can totally see ourselves wearing this SS15.

Invest in a printed shirt dress like the one from Sugarhill Boutique, below, or jazz up an all-white outfit with a bold, blue blazer.

Candy Stripes

It's not the easiest trend to pull off, but actresses Margot Robbie and Sarah Hyland totally rocked their candy striped looks on the Oscars red carpet. We love how both ladies have styled their monochrome looks with a pop of colour on the lips - it's the injection of colour that these outfits needed.

Wear a vertical striped tee or lantern skirt like the ones below with a bright, coloured clutch and strappy, stiletto heels for a fashion-forward, spring look.

Bonjour Bardot
It's one of the lesser-popular neckline styles on the red carpet but we couldn't help but totally fall in love with Reese Witherspoon and Chloe Moretz's off-the-shoulder dresses. They add a touch of intrigue to their gowns, with Reese opting for classic, nude make-up while Chloe styled hers with a waist-cinching belt and blood-orange lips.

Wear one of the styles below with distressed skinny jeans and strappy sandals for a chic take on the trend.

Sharp White

Who says women can't rock a tuxedo suit and look flippin' amazing?! Naomi Watts and Leslie Mann looked sexy AND powerful in their sharp white outfits on the Oscars red carpet, with Naomi wearing a plunging white jumpsuit and Leslie rocking the hell out of a white tuxedo suit.

The key to this trend is to keep it clean and modern - in other words, that's wear white head-to-toe. A sleek jumpsuit, like Naomi's, is the cheat's way to wear the trend or add a blazer like the Topshop one below to smarten up an outfit.

From L-R: Premium Suit Jacket - £65.00 - Topshop; Lace Overlay Jumpsuit - £55.00 – Miss Selfridge; White Ankle Strap Heels - £17.99 – New Look; White Smart Cold Shoulder Jumpsuit - £55.00 – River Island

Cut-Outs

Nina Dobrev and Gigi Hadid both looked incredible in their cut-out gowns at the Oscars after-parties but you don't have to have a supermodel body to work the daring trend.

Invest in a frock with intricate keyhole neck or shoulder detail and you'll be rocking cut-outs without having to feel self-conscious - although we'll be working towards that orange dress from Miss Selfridge, isn't it gorgeous?!
