Oscar De La Renta Dead At 82: Hollywood Pays Tribute To Master Designer
Taylor Swift, Zoe Saldana and Kris Jenner pay their respects to the legendary designer
Legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has died at 82.
The Dominican American fashion icon passed away at his home surrounded by his family, it’s been confirmed.
De La Renta is famed for his eveningwear and ball gowns and famously admitted he ‘doesn’t know how to do’ casual wear.
He’s dressed some of the world’s most powerful women, including Jackie Kennedy, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
Hollywood paid their respects to the acclaimed designer as his death was announced on Oct 20.
Actress Jennifer Garner, who wore De La Renta to this year’s Oscars, said that he honoured women’s bodies in his designs.
"He was just gracious and elegant and a gentleman. Mr. De la Renta loved women. And you saw it in every design that he did. He honored women's features, he honored our bodies,” said Jennifer at the Elle Women in Hollywood event.
“He wasn't afraid to pull back and let the woman be the star of the look. And I was just lucky to get to wear his designs and get to know him a little bit, just the tiniest bit, as a person."
A number of high-profile celebrities, including Taylor Swift and Zoe Saldana, paid tribute to the designer on social media.
