London Fashion Week SS15: Things We’ve Learnt At LFW
LFW notebook: The main things we’ve learnt from watching the models and celebs strut their stuff on the Spring / Summer 2015 runway!
London Fashion Week SS15 digested into bite-size chunks for your easy scrolling pleasure. Here's basically all you need to know...
Monday September 15
Tom Ford likes his metallic dominatrix girls...
Trust Tom Ford to give us a collection to get excited about.
The US designer pulled no punches with his SS15 collection, bringing out the inner dominatrix in his models.
With a decidedly glam Joan Jett meets The Cure vibe, Ford's collection featured metallic bellbottoms, gold minidresses and sheer panelling that left little to the imagination.
While other designers might have played it safe for Spring/Summer with muted pastels and light linens, Ford punked up his runway with big beautiful bed hair and smoky eyes that Alice Cooper would be proud of.
Even if we don't start wearing sheer slips with sequin nipple covers, the 53-year-old has done us ladies one huge favour - sheer black tights.
By taking the stockings from the hosiery section of BHS and sticking them on his grunge girls, we've finally got the go ahead to whip out the ol' 40 denier. Suck it bare legs!
Oh, and Bradley Cooper was there. No biggie.
It's cool to clash at Roksanda Ilincic
Bright, clashing pastels ruled the runway at Roksanda Ilincic as the London-based Serbian designer debuted her SS15 collection.
Ilincic took the asymmetric cuts that we've seen from her in the past and pushed them even further with bold panelling and soft folds.
The bright colours might be a little too daring for the Duchess of Cambridge, who has been spotted wearing Ilincic designs in the past, but we loved the fresh looks.

Awesome asymmetrics from David Koma
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Georgian designer David Koma has made his name creating form flattering outfits that showcase the gorgeous female figure and his SS15 collection carries on in the same vein.
Sexy sheer panelling, asymmetric cuts and clean lines have made him a firm favourite among A-listers like Jessica Alba, Elisabeth Moss and Jennifer Lopez.
His Spring/Summer collection makes the most fo the femal form with cut outs in all the right places, mixing textures like sheer and leather all while retaining a sense of fun.
We're also rather pleased to see that crop tops and high-waisted full skirts are still on the menu come next summer!
Layers, layers and more layers at Jonathan Saunders
His show might hve been 25 minutes late but it was worth it.
The Scottish designer showcased a Spring/Summer collection that was simultaneaously soft yet durable.
We might be biased as our favourite colour - cornflour blue - was the star shade, used for pencil skirts, safari suits and corset tops.
As well as soft, sheer (again!) summer dresses, the key feature was layering.
Oversized shirts nipped in at the waist sat atop pencil skirts; boxy jackets over blouses and, our personal favourite, a Hunter S. Thompason style safari suit.
Mary Katrantzou does embellishment like no other
Ever since her sold out collaboration with Topshop, we've been in awe of Brit-based designer Mary Katrantzou and her SS15 was better than ever.
Famous for her bold, clashing prints, Mary has started playing with textures - mixing soft sheers with structured satins.
Like Topshop, waists have been dropped for an almost flapper style summer dress that her celeb fans like Diane Kruger and Taylor Swift will no doubt love.
We couldn't take our eyes off the stunning embellishment from the richly embroidered motifs to karma chameleons.
Cara Delevingne is still the queen at Topshop
After being unveilied as their first solo face, we were all hoping to catch a glimpse of Cara D at the Topshop Unique show.
The 22-year-old opened the SS15 show with a knowing smile on her face that told the audience, "No worries guys - I got this".
British seaside was the inspiration behind the high street labels SS15 offering, complete with frilling knickers and lemon yellows.
One keen Twitter user pointed out it was all about the four S's:

There was a decidedly sports luxe feel to the collection, as Cara D and Jourdan Dunn stepped out in bold colour block prints.
But there was a softer side to the season, with delicate sheer beaded dresses rounding up the collection.
It's Cara's first LFW SS15 appearance but definitely not her last...
Fibre Optic is the new black at Richard Nicoll
His luminous designs lit up the dark run way (literally!).
London is still home of the zaiest shows, like Sophia Webster's show collection
Sophia Webster took the lead of Saturday for the most fun, creative and wacky show - after all, it's what LFW's fashion for.
Taking a jungle theme and adding neon, me MUST have a pair of these shoes. Check out our show report for more crazy pics.
Monochrome is with us for another year, according to KTZ
Saturday September 13
London-based label KTZ stuck to its favourite monochromatic palette for its SS15 offering, incorporating Cameos and Roman Empire designs (linking back to its SS15 Menswear) woven into jackets and tunics. And cone hats the we can't quite see catching on, if we're honest.
The black and white outfits were highlighted with chunky gold accessories and gladiators sandals are most definitely back on the radar. The good old Romans.
Sheer and florals aren't going anywhere according to Marchesa
The British design duo behind Marchesa debuted their first show at London Fashion Week in 10 years and it did not disappoint.
Stunning tulle gowns with floral detail were on the menu, as modelled by a certain Georgia May Jagger.
Guests including Anna Wintour, Paloma Faith and Rita Ora were treated to a glimpse into a sartorial Midsummer Night's Dream, with full gowns and floral garlands a plenty.
Henry Holland's got a thing for groupies...
There was a distinct 60s feel to the House of Holland show and it wasn't just the Jimi Hendrix soundtrack.
Guests including Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof had a blast from the past with a catwalk full of bright bold prints, sexy shift dresses and a healthy amount of midriff.
The Brit designer's SS15 inspiration is the iconic groupie - girls who spend their days "stalking hotels in last night's make up and arranging outfits for the nightly pilgrimage to a dingy dressing room or backstage bar".
Quite.
When it comes to next season's accessories, Holly Fulton's designs are where it's at.
1960s shades and incredible, mid-height, block heeled sandals.
But the hero piece for us today, was the most beautiful monochrome overcoat.
We know that many of you will be fawning over the '50s style full skirts and little bralets, but seriously though, watching the show - this coat was the absolutely stand-out.
Big ol' hair bows are what's hot at Sibling for SS15.
The London-based design trio were not afraid to go girlie with their accessories or their outfits, with a quirky twist naturally.
Babydoll dresses that fondly reminded us of Miu Miu's SS08 campaign were paired with the ginormous bows and, in some cases, full floor-length skirts.
Special mention goes to the 80s Madonna jumper that we absolutely have to get our hands on ASAP.
TWL that dreams really do come true. Well if Julien MacDonald has any say in the matter. The legendary designer pulled out a collection of fantasy and make-believe in front of a star-studded audience. Intricately laced bridalwear rubbed shoulders with floaty, ethereal short dresses. We agree with Millie Mackintosh who labelled this particular beauty as her favourite.
And this particular beauty too.

Friday September 12
The day got off to a fabulous start with our beauty writer Sophia Moir going backstage at the J. JS Lee show, to preview all of the makeup and beauty looks before they hit the runway.
J. JS Lee
The show itself was a corker, with some lovely pastel greens and floral prints.
Here were our favourite looks:
We can see this blue floral graphic being everywhere next summer:
We shad prime seats for the Eudon Choi show at 2pm.
We were a little underwhelmed by all the suiting and trench coats. It was all a little too much tailoring and not enough OUMPH for us.
BUT, there were a couple of gorgeous floral suits and the most lovely, flowing blue dress.
Yum.
And in case you want to see how it moved (hint: beautifully), we also took a little video for you from where we sat.
Daks SS15
However, our FAVE show of the day has GOT to be Daks.
We were expecting it to be a little lacklustre, as Daks is often perceived to be a relatively "safe" or "traditional" fashion house.
But no, the looks we say heading down the runway were nothing short of divine!
Have a gander:
And these purple numbers...oh wow.
