Kim Kardashian And Rita Ora Wear Matching Fetish-Inspired Latex Dresses To London Party

Atsuko Kudo was the fashion designer of choice for both ladies but we can’t quite figure out whether it’s on-trend or tragic…

They’ve not exactly had the best history so we’re glad these two didn’t bump into each other in the loos last night.

Because Kim Kardashian and Rita Ora stepped out wearing nearly identical dresses to a private party in London.

It’s awkward enough for us mere mortals, let alone when you’ve got paparazzi snapping your every move!

The Keeping up with the Kardashians star, 34, was pictured wearing the Sleeveless Joy dress by latex couturier Atsuko Kudo to Mert & Marcus’ House of Love Party for Madonna held at Annabel’s.

But Rita Ora (who famously dated Kim’s younger brother Rob Kardashian) also opted for the fetish-inspired fashion piece – at the SAME party.

And even more awkwardly, both ladies styled their dresses in pretty much exactly the same way.

Rita, 24, wore her halterneck second-skin dress with nude heels and a fur coat while Kanye West’s wife also donned a fur coat and nude strappy heels (Manolo Blahnik, natch).

It’s not as if they don’t have bundles of designer clothes at home so it baffles us how their stylists managed this matching faux pas!

So who is this Atsuko Kudo designer and why on earth are people going crazy about her rubber clothes?

Well she’s an independent, London-based designer whose label specialises in couture latex design (that’s rubber clothes to you and me).

Atsuko, the founder, took her inspiration for the eponymous label from looking around sex shops in Tokyo and admiring the sequin-skin quality of latex.

They’ve had a cult following for a number of years but it wasn’t until Kimmy stepped out wearing THAT latex dress in Melbourne that things really started to kick off.

“We’re happy to see Kim celebrate her famous curves with our latex! And also she is wearing it a little more as day wear, which is interesting!” the designer told MTV.com.

But she’s not the only one to jump on the latex trend as celebs including Kate Moss, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus have sported the sex-shop inspired line (including Miley during her infamous VMA performance in 2013).

And Lady Gaga actually chose to wear Atsuko Kudo to meet the Queen in 2009, which she admits was the ‘proudest moment’ in her fashion career.

“It was magical. I could not believe what I was seeing!” said Atsuko.

The thing is, as much as she describes the clothes as ‘empowering,’ we reckon you have to have an AMAZING body to be able to pull them off.

We can’t imagine they’d be very forgiving over those lumps and bumps and you can’t exactly squeeze a pair of Spanx under that latex!

What do you reckon? Would you wear fetish-inspired fashion?
