Kate Middleton Pays Homage To Australia In Gold Dress On First Day Of Royal Tour Down Under

The Duchess of Cambridge had a sunny disposition in a canary yellow pencil dress by London Fashion Week designer Roksanda Ilincic – but it appears Prince William is not a fan

It’s set to be the hottest colour of the season.

So Kate Middleton was bang-on-trend in a bright yellow gold dress on her first day of her Australia royal tour, paying homage to the country in the zesty-coloured frock.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 32, had a sunny disposition in a yellow gold and white colour block dress by London Fashion Week designer Roksanda Ilincic.

The knee-length pencil dress – which was reportedly custom-made for her but a similar style retails for £950 – was perfect for stepping off the plane at Sydney Airport as she avoided suffering a similar wardrobe malfunction to when she landed in New Zealand.

The beautiful Duchess – who was joined by husband Prince William, 31, and son Prince George of Cambridge, eight months, as she landed – styled her summer outfit with a trusty pair of nude patent court shoes.

But it seems not everyone was a fan, as she revealed Wills wasn’t so keen on the sunny shade.

‘William said I look like a banana,' Kate told fan Heather Easton at a meet and greet at the Royal Opera House.

Catherine pinned back her brunette locks into a half-up, half-down style, showcasing her natural beauty to onlookers.

She opted for slightly more eye make-up than we normally see on her, choosing a slate-coloured eyeshadow, lashings of black mascara and kohl-rimmed waterline.

The mum-of-one went for very minimal make-up elsewhere as she sported a natural lip colour and a flush of blush to the cheeks.

The couple landed at Sydney's Kingsford Smith Airport this morning after flying in from New Zealand.

It’s the first day of the Australia leg of the three-week royal tour, so it seems rather fitting that Kate wore one of Oz’s national colours.

Prince William wore a navy suit with a white shirt and burgundy tie, not looking quite as fashion-forward as his Duchess wife.

Prince George on the other hand looked rather dapper in a white smocked outfit that bore a striking resemblance to one Prince William wore in 1983.

The royal family kicked off their royal tour with a meet-and-greet at Sydney’s Royal Opera House before they visit Taronga Park Zoo where the young prince will have a bilby enclosure named after him.

They will then spend nine further days in Oz before embarking on their trip home to the UK.
