Jennifer Lawrence Ditches Dior For The X-Men: Days of Future Past Premiere

She’s almost exclusively worn Dior on the red carpet for the past two years.

But Jennifer Lawrence switched things up at the X-Men: Days of Future Past premiere in New York this weekend.

The 23-year-old US actress opted NOT to wear Dior for the film’s world premiere – instead wearing a gown by New York Fashion Week designer, Jason Wu.

The Hunger Games star channelled her X-Men character Mystique in a navy, bodycon velvet dress by one of Michelle Obama’s fave fashion designers.

Her figure looked absolutely amazing in the skintight frock, which hugged her curves in all the right places.

J-Law’s spaghetti strap dress had a strong ‘90s vibe – especially when teamed with the blonde, sweeping fringe.

Jen teamed the full-length dress with strappy heels, a small black Kotur clutch and a bright red pout.

The Kentucky-born star has been the face of Miss Dior since 2011 so it comes as no surprise that she wears almost exclusively Dior for red carpet appearances.

However, it was starting to get more than a little predictable with the actress wearing Raf Simons’ fashion label ALL THE TIME.

We had a little trawl through our J-Law archives and found that the last time she wore a non-Dior dress for a film premiere was The Hunger Games Madrid premiere in 2012.

Since then, she’s worn a handful of other designers including Alexander McQueen, Prabal Gurung and Proenza Schouler, but for promo appearances it’s 98% Dior.

It comes just a week after Marion Cotillard – another one of Dior’s famous faces – wore a Mary Katrantzou on the red carpet instead of her go-to label.

Is the French fashion house loosening its grip on its stars? We really hope so because we love J-Law, but it was starting to get REALLY boring.
