Is Game of Thrones's Emilia Clarke The Next Emma Watson?

The GoT star is hot on the heels of the former Harry Potter star, who’s the fashion world’s red carpet darling

They’re both British-born actresses that found fame in major franchises.

But while former Harry Potter star Emma Watson is a certified red carpet darling, Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke is just beginning to work her way up the best-dressed list.

The 27-year-old – who plays Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO series - has hardly put a foot wrong in the style stakes since she came on the scene in 2011.

And it helps that she’s taken a similar fashion path to the HP star. We round up the reasons why Emilia Clarke is the red carpet’s next Emma Watson…

Backless Dresses

Emma Watson caused quite the stir when she wore a backless Dior dress with TROUSERS on the Golden Globes red carpet earlier this year.

Emilia must have taken a few style tips from her as she wore a backless gown to the Vanity Fair Oscars party a few weeks later.

Airport Chic

Skinny jeans – check. Knitwear – check. Dark sunnies – check. These two have airport style down to a tee.

Pretty good considering they’re both jetting back and forth between Heathrow and LAX more often than not.

Bold Beauty Look

Emma Watson isn’t afraid to take a risk in the beauty stakes – and it seems Emilia has taken a leaf from her make-up book.

She was spotted rocking a bold pink lip with a mustard yellow Vivienne Westwood dress on the red carpet recently. A girl after our own heart…

Tailored Trend

No-one can rock a tuxedo suit like Emma Watson – but Emilia looks amazing in the tailored trend.

Unlike Emma who went for a head-to-toe masculine look, the Game of Thrones actress added a feminine touch with a pink blazer.

Chanel Style

Emma Watson started getting serious about fashion when Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s Creative Director, started taking an interest in her outfits.

And it looks like Emilia has taken a similar path as she’s chosen Chanel looks on the red carpet recently.

Slicked-Back Locks

It’s a difficult hairstyle to pull off, but Emma and Emilia both do so perfectly.

The pair absolutely owned the slicked-back hair look – teaming the style with smokey eyes and nude lips.

Emerging Designers

It’s all well and good choosing big names such as Dolce and Gabbana, Versace and Chanel – but the red carpet is a chance for celebrities to showcase lesser-known designers.

Both actresses have been pictured wearing labels including Proenza Schouler, giving those designers a big boost.
