Girl On The Ground At London Fashion Week SS15: The Winners' Journeys

Hundreds of entries, sixteen shortlisted and two winners. Let's go behind the scenes at our Girl on the Ground London Fashion Week competition.

If you're a fashion and/or beauty blogger - you may have heard that we ran a pretty big competition this year.

After hundreds of entries, sixteen amazing shortlisters and thousands of votes, two lucky winners got the chance to come with the Yahoo Lifestyle team to report LIVE from London Fashion Week.

Those two girls were the talented Charlotte Goodayle, of The Goodowl blog and Zoe Dubs, who runs Face Value Beauty blog.

For those of you who FOLLOW US ON TWITTER, you'll have been able to chart their progress, as they raced around to different shows, accosted well-dressed people on the street, interviewed designers and went backstage to take a peek at the beauty looks on the models before they hit the runway.

But for those of you who missed it, here's a glimpse of what they experienced while they were part of our team:

HELLOOOO YAHOO!

Considering we were all about to be in each others' pockets for the next 48 hours, we thought we'd do well to get better acquainted...over wine!

So Sophia Moir, our Fashion and Beauty writer, and Natasha Bird, our Lifestyle Editor, took Charlotte and Zoe for dinner at the delightful Brasserie Max in Covent Garden.

KICK OFF

We'd put the girls up in two lovely, light rooms on the seventh floor of the Traveldoge London Covent Garden Hotel - which was BANG in the centre of the action, just a short walk down Drury Lane to Somerset House and round the corner from Fashion Scout.

Perfect.

The hotel were kind enough to let in our film crew very early on Saturday morning, to film Zoe getting a new, exciting look, courtesy of Stila's leading make-up artist Sascha Jackson.

And then after that, the race was on, to film intros, run through schedules and get to our first shows!

THE SHOWS

We were super lucky this year to get access to a simply amazing range of shows, most of which we were able to get our girls into, to report on all the trends LITERALLY AS THEY WERE HAPPENING.

The best shows, according to our girls, were probably Holly Fulton, for the sheer brilliance of the 60s designs, Topshop Unique, because of the pre-show hype and Mulberry because...well, MULBERRY.

THE BACKSTAGE BEAUTY

On top of the shows, lucky Zoe got to go backstage at a number of them, to speak to the hair and make-up artists about the looks that were about to hit the runways.

She spoke to The Body Shop, at Fashion Scout, she went backstage with Bourjois for Orla Kiely, with Palmer/Harding for Morgan/Taylor and with Bumble and Bumble for the Phoebe English show.

We were so proud we SHOUTED about it all over Twitter, lolz.

THE SELFIES

We bumped into LOTS of famous faces over the course of London Fashion Week. We sat in the presence of Anna Wintour no less than three times. We stood next to Carine Restoin Roitfield as she took a phone call and it felt a little bit like The Man Repeller was actually following us around!

Of the bunch, we only managed to nab a few of them for a cheeky snap, but among those few were Eva Chen (ex-editor of Teen Vogue and current editor of Lucky) at Mulberry and vlogger Tanya Burr at Topshop Unique.

THE CRAZINESS

A lot of the weekend was spent racing around, dashing between one show and the next, filming segments in random locations and worrying about being late for interviews.

It. Was. Mental.

Errr....that time we got caught in a really small lift somewhere near Victoria...

THE PERKS

But despite all the outfit-changes, misplaced memory cards and racing between locations, there were lots of perks.

Lavazza were kind enough to supply us with free coffee over the weekend, Addison Lee sent drivers to ferry us between various shows, UGG shoes truly pampered us in the UGG Comfort Lounge in the penthouse suite of the ME Hotel and there was lashings of champage.

THE AFTER-PARTY

When all was said and done, we celebrated.

Of course.

Woot woot!

We all had an AWESOME time at London Fashion Week, we LOVED meeting the girls and we hope to work with them both again at some point!
