Coleen Rooney SS14 Swimwear For Littlewoods @ The Erasmus, River Thames
Setting sail for summer, lucky we had our sea legs!
The Vibe
Well, we couldn't have asked for nicer weather could we! The sun was beaming down on us as we made our way up to the top deck of The Erasmus, the boat that Coleen and her Littlewoods team had hired for the afternoon. In a bid to reflect the super feminine feel of the collection, the event was a blend of champagne, peonies and afternoon tea. Gorgeous.
The Trends
Sweet florals and lashings of pink and red. For a swimwear collection, which you'd assume would be all about the bikinis and cut out one pieces (and there were loads of those, of course), it was actually the lovely array of floral shirts which really caught the eye. Bold prints are the order of the day!
The Hero Piece
While the swimwear was lovely, it was this pink day dress, with its voluminious skirt and biased-cut bodice that had us cooing in our seats. Clearly giving a nod to her chum Victoria Beckham, Coleen is ramping up our beach-chic.
The Accessories
Kaftans, it was all about the kaftans. The most versatile of beach attire - pop one of Coleen's many kaftans in your straw shopper and you'll be ready to go from beach to lunch date in a jiffy.
The Lady Herself
Ms Rooney clearly values a bit of modesty. Apart from popping up to accept a bunch of flowers post-show, there were no big speeches or explanations from the petite designer. We did manage to corner her for a minute to compliment her use of prints though.
