Burberry Prorsum Gets Us All A-Flutter As Cara Delevingne Bows Out Of The Show For SS15

Suki Waterhouse and Jourdan Dunn walked the runway at Kensington Gardens – but the MyBurberry star sat FROW with Kate Moss and Mario Testino

It’s the hottest ticket at London Fashion Week.

But there was one model missing from the Burberry Prorsum SS15 show today – Miss Cara Delevingne.

The 22-year-old British model was set to walk the runway alongside Kate Moss, a source told us, but the two sat FROW for Creative Director and CEO Christopher Bailey’s show at Kensington Gardens instead.

It’s not known why she bowed out this season but we expect it’s something to do with the MyBurberry fragrance campaign she’s currently starring in alongside 40-year-old Kate (photographed by Mario Testino, no less, who was sat beside Ms Moss on the front row).

We were there when the fashionable pair arrived for the show and the fact they walked past photographers without stopping for snaps did NOT go down well.

They were booed into the building by disgruntled snappers - so it’s no wonder they stopped for pictures after the show.

But they were all smiles as they took their seats for the ‘Birds and the Bees’ SS15 show, alongside regular Burberry FROW-ers Cat Deeley, Olivia Palermo and Jamie Campbell-Bower.

British model Malaika Firth opened the show in a denim jacket, 3D skirt and trainers, with denim being a key theme of the collection (taking us back to the ‘90s!)

Insects from Britain was the inspiration behind Bailey's SS15 collection with butterflies and honey bees making appearances alongside shades of dragonfly blue and beetle green.

There wasn’t a single heeled shoe in sight, as models including Suki Waterhouse and Jourdan Dunn walked the runway in trainers and ‘ugly’ sandals instead.

The first half of the collection consisted of pastels, tulle and block shades but we saw more psychedelic prints towards the end of the show.

Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend, 22-year-old Suki, lead the show’s finale in a two-tone trench coat and the new Burberry Bee bag in Horseferry check.

It’s certainly a new direction for the British fashion house, which tends to favour simplicity over fuss, but we saw a hint of pattern in the brand’s AW14 collection with its Aztec-print shawls.

Elsewhere at the Burberry show, we spotted TV presenter Cat Deeley - who said she wanted to get her hands on one of the men’s hats - and vlogger Tanya Burr who was heading straight to the Issa show after her appearance.

The music at the show is always a talking point - Christopher Bailey catapulted Tom Odell into the spotlight after he sung at the SS14 show, while Paloma Faith entertained guests at AW14.

This time, guests were treated to a rousing rendition of Clocks Go Forward by singer/songwriter James Bay, perfectly in tune with the vibe of the show.

Backstage at Burberry, Head Make-Up Artist Wendy Rowe created a stunning beauty look with the models sporting an ‘iridescent glow and deep ruby red lips.’

Wendy used the Sheer Foundation from the brand’s own beauty range to create a flawless base, before sculpting cheekbones in the brand’s Earthy blush and finishing off the runway-ready look with Burberry Lip Cover in No. 18 Ruby.

Nails were painted turquoise to complement the sea blue, teal and turquoise shades on the runway - and the shade itself '414' is set to launch as part of two limited edition sets of Burberry SS15 nail collections.

We don't know how he does it, but Christopher Bailey has a way of making us want EVERY item that features on the runway - from the lipstick to the trainers to the multi-coloured trench coats.

If you're like us, then head over to the Burberry website where the collection is available to shop now.
