Get A Butt 'Facial' To Make Sure Your Cheeks Are Beach-Ready For Summer

Because a million squats won't give you a bum like Jen Selter

Step aside vajacials, it's summer and that means one thing: Beach bums.

And of course there's a beauty treatment for those. Let us introduce the 'butt facial', aimed at making sure your (other) cheeks are looking youthful and smooth as a baby's.

Its sound comical but this is a serious treatment that New Yorkers are being offered at a beauty salon in Brooklyn, Skin By Molly.

But it's not just someone rubbing your bum. Dubbed the 'Shiney Hiney Facial', it involves an exfoliation treatment similar to microdermabrasion that you might have on your face, plus a peel and a steam, all for $65 (£38) for a 30 minute treatment.

The need for a lush bum is probably not unrelated to the rise of the indomitable 'belfie' (butt-selfie), but there is actually a beauty basis to the treatment.

Acne on hidden parts of the body - such as the butt - is actually quite common, and with the summer months and beach season approaching, bikini body means a whole lot more than just going on a diet/starvation plan.

Molly told the Brokelyn blog, "Hey, skin is skin, I got no judgment. Acne can flare up anywhere."

Thanks to the likes of Kim Kardashian, Jen Selter et al, bums are big business right now. So if you're saddled with butt acne, this sort of treatment could be a lifesaver, allowing you to wear those teeny tiny bikini bottoms that are now en vogue (should you want to).

And at least it's rather less drastic than other butt treatments such as the Brazilian Butt Lift and implants, which are growing in popularity as women search for the perfect curve.

Here in the UK, butt facials are yet to be seen on the list of treatments at most spas, but if vajacials can take off, we predict the option to have a bum-smoothing session can only be round the corner.

Would you give it a go?
