Comedian Amy Schumer Starts A No Make-Up Movement After Hilarious Music Video Parody

You’ve got to hand it to Amy Schumer – she’s totally dominating Hollywood right now.

Fresh from her photobombing Kimye stint at the TIME 100 Gala, the 33-year-old comedian is now blowing up our Twitter timeline with her #GirlYouDontNeedMakeup movement.

Just before her show ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ aired on Comedy Central last night, the Manhattan-born beauty posted a no make-up selfie – and encouraged fans to do the same after the episode.

And in what is possibly one of the most hilarious videos we’ve seen all year, Amy’s show featured a sketch titled ‘Girl, You Don’t Need Makeup’ which TOTALLY parodied the whole pop music video culture.

It features the actress starring alongside a faux boyband who are telling her that she doesn’t need make-up, singing the lyrics: ‘You’re beautiful, who cares what they think? Now wash that lovely face off in the sink.’

But as soon as she washes her make-up off, the four-piece boyband tell her she needs to put it all back on again as they are shocked by her naked face.

‘Hold up girl, we spoke too soon with this whole no make-up tune. We kinda changed our mind on the make-up thing [sic],’ they sing.

The sketch, which is seemingly a thinly-veiled parody of One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ music video, then features the singers giving her a makeover – and the lyrics are appropriately comical.

‘You’ll be the hottest girl in the nation, with just a touch of foundation.’

‘I didn’t know that your lashes were stubby and pale, just a little mascara and you’ll look female.’

‘Just get up an hour earlier and you can make yourself much girlier.’

‘Think of a clown and then work your way back.’

But according to Amy’s Twitter profile, she was not expecting the kind of response she received on social media after being inundated with #GirlYouDontNeedMakeup selfies.

“I have been brought to tears with all the strong, badass, incredible women tonight. In jungles, jumping out of planes, holding their babies and mothers hands. All the strong lovely men who tweeted too,” wrote Amy to her one million followers.

“We are all different and beautiful. Let's waste no time stressin bout looks. We are sisters and fighters and laughers and happy strong women. [sic]

“Smile at yourself in the mirror girl. #girlyoudontneedmakeup much love!”

Yep, we’re smiling in the mirror right now because we’ve just discovered our new icon for 2015. Go, Amy!
