Catherine Zeta-Jones Continues To Defy The Ageing Process

The welsh actress joined husband Michael Douglas at the Phoenix House Public Service Award Dinner in New York City

She raised a few eyebrows with her wrinkle-free appearance at the Golden Globes earlier this year.

And actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 45, continued to defy the ageing process as she walked the red carpet with her 70-year-old husband Michael Douglas last night.

The Welsh actress looked fresh and youthful as she attended the Phoenix House Public Service Award Dinner in New York City.

Catherine donned a figure-flattering, one-shouldered black jumpsuit teamed with stunning jewelled drop earrings and a stylish red patent clutch.

CZJ sported a glowing complexion, smokey eyes and a plump pout as she posed for photographers, with her brunette locks coloured a flattering shade of copper.

In fact, her face looked much more natural than what we saw at the 2015 Golden Globes where suspicions were raised about whether she’d had work done.

Because it seems that despite hitting the big time 17 years ago on The Mask of Zorro, she hasn't aged.

While her skin is smooth and line-free and her cheeks and lips full and plump, her Golden Globes look raised more than a few eyebrows with suggestions that she doesn't really look like herself anymore.

It's nothing like the Renee Zellweger transformation of late last year, but rumours that CZJ has been helping her youthful appearance along a little have abounded in the past few years, and if you have a look back you can see a definite shift around 2011/12. Subtle changes give her face a different look that's hard to put your finger on.

But if you ask the experts, Catherine's subtle changes - and flawless skin - may have been achieved by nothing surgical at all.

Infact, both of the experts we spoke to thought that Catherine looked great for a woman in her 40s (she's 45), but that she probably achieved it without going under the knife.

Annemarie Gillett, Non Surgical Director from Transform Cosmetic Surgery commented:

"Looking at the recent images of Catherine Zeta Jones, undeniably, she’s looking good for a woman in her mid 40s.

"To have maintained her looks, I would say she’s been a regular user of non surgical treatments for many years.

"Her cheeks are prominent suggesting that she’s had some type of temporary dermal fillers injected into this area – they look very full, defined and high. This is a great treatment for women of Catherine’s age and adds volume and fullness to the face.

"Her forehead is line free, which is unnatural for a woman of her age and is a classic tell tale sign of regular Botox injections. This is increasingly becoming a very popular anti-ageing treatment and is very effective for getting rid of any lines and wrinkles.

"I would expect Catherine to have regular procedures such as facial peels and laser treatments helping keep her skin in tip top condition.

"Her jaw is also looking very defined – this may be down to some type of tightening and lifting treatment such as Ultherapy or she may have had a midi facelift but this would be impossible to say without consulting her in person.

"She is very heavily made up and there are signs of wrinkles around her eyes and mouth area, which you would expect over time."

Dr Yannis Alexandrides, MD at 111 Harley St agrees:

“Catherine looks absolutely fantastic having clearly lost weight since her last public appearance, and at 45 she looks younger than many others on the red carpet. Her hair and makeup are visibly contouring her face however her smooth and taut complexion could be a result of non-surgical procedures to maintain a youthful look."

Dr Alexandrides suggests that CZJ might have opted for Thermage.

"It's one of the most common non-surgical procedures carried out at my Harley St Clinic, we saw a huge increase earlier this year after Gwyneth Paltrow confessed that it was the 'rubber band sting' tightening treatment that kept her jawline and face taut.

"At 45, Catherine should have some signs of wrinkles and loss of elasticity, however her face is line free and smooth, which suggests to me that she may have had a Thermage treatment.

"The procedure uses radio frequency to tighten elastin fibres and stimulate collagen and gradually improves the quality of the skin and tissue over a period of six months - it's a popular option for patients who are interested in a face lift but aren't ready for surgery."

Obviously Catherine's in the difficult position of all Hollywood actresses - she's not allowed to age but if she doesn't she'll be scrutinised for clues as to why she hasn't.

She might look a little different over the years but she still looks gorgeous if you ask us.
