Anne Hathaway ditched her go-to designer Valentino at the Oscars 2013 because his dress was too similar to Amanda Seyfried’s, according to reports.
The Les Miserables actress left her favourite designer – who designed her wedding dress – high and dry after freaking out when she saw her co-star’s frock.
Valentino sent out a press release on the day of the Oscars saying the 30-year-old actress was among the stars he was dressing for the red carpet.
“Valentino just announced its red carpet lineup for tonight: Look for Sally Field, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Aniston, all in couture,” wrote Eric Wilson, fashion reporter for The New York Times.
But it seems the Les Mis star had a change of heart once she’d had a look at co-star Amanda Seyfried’s red carpet choice.
The actress reportedly ‘freaked out’ when she caught a glimpse of Amanda’s lacy Alexander McQueen gown and ordered stylist Rachel Zoe to change her outfit.
On the red carpet, Anne revealed her Oscars red carpet look had indeed been a last-minute decision.
“I didn’t know what I was wearing until two hours ago,” she told WWD.
In fact, her last-minute decision may have lost her fashion points as she had a wardrobe malfunction – although she still looked stunning.
Anne’s nipples could be seen through the gown and were the talking point of the Oscars the next day.
We’ve had a look at the Valentino SS13 Couture collection and one gown in particular looks very similar to Amanda Seyfried’s Oscars frock.
