If you've picked up the new issue of Grazia (out now), you'll already have seen the latest whisperings surrounding the much-antcipated Brangelina nupitals. It’s been six months since the most famous couple on planet earth – that's Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - announced their engagement. But, despite our incessant hankering for information, there’s been very little info to go on, let alone the small matter of THE DRESS. Until now that is...
Last week, Grazia learned there’s a serious contender for the role of wedding dress designer – L’Wren Scott. There are rumours that Angelina has had ‘several meetings’ with the model turned designer and girlfriend of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger. ‘Angelina wanted to go with someone who is not so obvious for designing wedding gowns,’ said a friend, ‘She’s been courted by some of the hottest designers on the planet, but having a big name isn’t important to Angelina. She wanted someone she could trust and she most definitely trusts L’Wren.’
Apparently, L’Wren and Angelina originally bonded over their similar body shapes. ‘L’Wren is famed for designing clothes to suit taller, thin women like herself,’ said a source. ‘Of all the people she’s met with she feels L’Wren is the one that understands her body the most.’
L'Wren Scott's bridal-esque designs
In 2008, the actress wore one of L’Wren’s designs to the premiere of Brad’s film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in LA. She also wore a strappy red number to the 2011 Moneyball premiere in Tokyo. It can’t help but be handy that the pair are neighbours too. Brad and Angelina moved into a house next door to Mick and L’Wren’s in Richmond in April – which would make popping over for dress fittings pretty easy, wouldn’t you say?
Despite rumblings that the wedding could happen sometime soon, at the time of going to press Brad, 48, and Angelina were yet to set a date. Angelina is currently wrapping up filming her new film Maleficent, whilst Brad is spending his time looking after their six children (and filming obscure adverts for Chanel).
When Grazia contacted L’Wren’s publicist, they refused to comment on whether she would be designing Angelina’s wedding gown.
