Alesha Dixon Joins Victoria Beckham In Talking About The Challenges Of Motherhood

The Britain’s Got Talent judge talks about the difficulties that come with being a mum and holding out for baby number two

Famously tight-lipped, Alesha Dixon doesn’t talk about her private life very often – and she’s kept herself away from the limelight even more than usual since the arrival of her baby daughter, Azura Sienna, 19 months ago.

But the former Mis-Teeq singer is happy to admit one thing – that motherhood is tough. So tough, in fact, that she’s struggling to contemplate the idea of having a second child with her partner Azuka Ononye.

“When you’re exhausted, it’s hard to think of a second baby, but we’ll see! Maybe after a couple of years,” the 36-year-old mum told OK! Magazine.

“Sleep deprivation is the hardest thing. Everything else has been wonderful.”

Boasting a successful career as a 'Britain’s Got Talent' judge and a singer, Alesha’s work often keeps her busy. But she maintains that she doesn’t feel guilty about her time away from Azura.

“I don’t feel guilty because if I’m away she’s either with Azuka or my mum, and often she’s in her home and she’s happy,” says Alesha.

“I’m going to work to do something I love and she’ll realise that as she gets older and it’ll hopefully inspire her.”

The 'Britain’s Got Talent' judge isn’t the first celebrity to confess that motherhood has its difficulties. Recently, Victoria Beckham penned an open letter to fans, describing the challenges that parenthood presents.

The mum-of-four used the heartfelt note to describe the ‘constant struggle’ she feels as a working mum.

“They [her four children] are a wonder to me every day,” the 41-year-old fashion designer wrote. “From a teenage son through to a toddler daughter, each moment of every day is filled with different energies, activities, feelings and a lot of comedy.

“Being in a position where they live such a privileged life, it is important that our children understand humility, that they appreciate how their parents have worked very hard to create this life for the family and they, too, have a responsibility to work hard, be respectful and never, ever take anything for granted."

The singer-turned-fashion designer was one a number of famous mums who published their letters about motherhood on Time’s website to mark Mother’s Day in America.

Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mum, wrote a letter to her four daughters, as did Sharon Osbourne and Ivana Trump.
