This summer will see Agyness Deyn make her film debut (we don’t really count her tiny role in last year’s 'Clash Of The Titans') when she plays a stripper in ‘Pusher’ alongside Richard Coyle (who you’ll recognise from 'W.E' in which he played Abbie Cornish’s sinister husband, FYI). And it seems that after a successful introduction to the stage (she appeared in ‘Leisure Society’ last February), the 29-year-old model has well and truly caught the acting bug.
Yup, it’s just been announced that Agyness (real name Laura Hollins) will be swapping those Burberry trenches and er, nipple tassles for some Hunter wellies as she’s set to play a farmer’s daughter in 'Sunset Song', the film adaptation of Lewis Grassic Gibbon’s 1932 coming-of-age novel. Agy has already said that she ‘fell completely in love with the character and the story’ and has spoken out about working with British director Terence Davies (who directed Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston in ‘The Deep Blue Sea’) describing him as ‘an incredible director.’ Exciting!
The story will follow Agyness’ character Chris Guthrie who she takes over her family farm after her mother dies and father suffers from a stroke. It’s a bleak drama, set in rural Scotland in the early 1900s that involves drama from the First World War and an incestuous storyline so is guaranteed to be another challenging role for our Brit gal - but we’re confident the model-turned-actress will once again prove she’s more than just a pretty face. Not that we aren’t excited to see how she’ll look in all that vintage country-girl attire though... While we wait, let's remember Agy's finest acting moments so far, including 'Here', that dreamy film she made with Tilda Swinton...
