12/07/2012: George Michael Casts Kate Moss In New Music Video
Who could forget George Michael's iconic music video for Freedom, jam-packed with supermodels from Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista to Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford? But there was one catwalker who was noticeably absent. Yep, Kate Moss was too busy to get involved when the shoot take place back in 1996 and has expressed her disappointment at missing out on the fash-tastic moment. 'That would have been amazing,' she told The Telegraph in May last year.
So what happy news to hear George has made it up to Mossy by casting her in the video for soon-to-be-released single, White Light. Grazia Daily spoke to the singer's spokesperson earlier today who confirmed that Moss has bagged a starring role after the unlikely pair became close pals. Who knew George and Kate are next door neighbours in North London, hey? And music-loving Kate has even been to the singer's concerts, most recently watching his performance at the Royal Albert Hall last year. They appear to enjoy dog walking together too:
'The video you are waiting for is choc full of serious eye candy, and believe it or not, I'm not talking about me!' George Tweeted last week. 'Oh and by the way, in the video, a certain supermodel (our Kate) saves my life. We shot two endings, one with the Heimlich manoeuvre... and one where she gives me full on CPR. Mouth to mouth. Not really:}'
Despite his joking, George does credit the model for bringing him back to life after his near-fatal illness last year. So it makes sense that in the video, Kate is looking like an ethereal angel but with a modern twist. We're told she's decked out in an all-black rocker-inspired outfit covered with a ginormous fur coat. Faaabulous! The video isn't released until next week but we can assure you, it will be on Grazia Daily immediately.
As for Mr Michael's song - which will be released on August 12 - it's made all the more special because it celebrates a whopping thirty years of George Michael being a part of the music biz. Wowzers. In fact, the single's release date is the exact anniversary of the day George released his first ever single with Wham. 'Most of my fans realise that I dreamed of a career as a singer/songwriter from an early age, but never in my wildest imaginings could I have known that I would still be here thirty years later, healthy, happy, and feeling that I still have so much more music to give,' he said.
So while we wait for the full video, let's remember Kate's other musical cameos from being all floaty for Primal Scream to doing a little pole-dancing for The White Stripes (below). If these are anything to go by, it's gonna be a good'un...
