Victoria Pendleton marries Scott Gardner in British designer wedding dress

Gold medal winning cyclist goes Team GB all over again, choosing UK designer Suzanne Neville for her wedding dress

She always said she'd go for a British designer wedding dress and Olympic star Victoria Pendleton has made good on her promise - choosing Suzanne Neville for her big day.

The Team GB cyclist married long-time love Scott Gardner at a ceremony in Colshaw Hall in Cheshire at the weekend.

The dress, by London College of Fashion grad Suzanne, was a stunning, vintage shape with lace neckline and overlay, slim fit bodice and billowing fishtail base and train.

Photos and an accompanying interview with the happy couple appeared in Hello magazine. Victoria, 32, said: "Seeing Scott at the top of the aisle is an image I'll keep in my mind forever."

"I'm very lucky to have met him, If I hadn't have done sport, our paths would never have crossed."

Scott, 37, was equally gushing about the happy event: "The day was amazing, brilliant, beautiful.

"I was just blown away by how she looked. It was the vintage look, the shape of her body, the smile on her face."

It's  a happy ending for the couple, who caused controversy when their relationship first went public in 2008. They met after Scott joined Team GB as a performance scientist. When it was revealed Scott had begun a romance with the team's cycling star, they faced a backlash from management and teammates, which culminated in Scott resigning.

He was later rehired but Victoria has been open about the difficulties they faced early in their relationship.

Speaking about the day she won gold in Beijing, she said: "Winning the gold medal should have been the happiest day of my entire life and it just wasn't.

"It felt like the saddest day in my entire life. I felt almost numb. Everyone was so angry that Scott and I had fallen in love. It was so unprofessional - we were a disgrace and had betrayed everybody."
