Victoria Beckham’s new sportswear-inspired collection

Posh Spice has gone sporty for her new spring/summer collection which was revealed at New York Fashion Week yesterday.

After a two-minute silence to pay respect to the victims of 9/11, press, fashion buyers and guests at the New York Public Library, were among the first to see Victoria’s sporty yet ladylike collection.

All of VB’s trademark styles were present but this season the designer has shaken things up by expanding her range to reflect a more casual theme.

She included oversized parka-jackets, drop-waist dresses with racer-back details and even flat shoes to match her signature figure-hugging shift dresses.

Victoria Beckham’s ever-present neutral shades were contrasted with high-energy combinations of navy blue and blazing orange that are a departure from her previous collections but are sure to be popular in stores.

The loose fabrics and flat shoes referenced the sporty Californian lifestyle that the mother-of-four has adopted, while the arrival of baby daughter Harper may also have been an influence on the practical nature of the new line.

In previous years, Mrs. Beckham had staged small-scale presentations of her work, where she would talk through each look to buyers and press, but this show marked a leap in her designing career as the show commenced backed by loud music, finishing with the customary bow from the designer.

Earlier this year, VB said her work ethic was akin to “juggling glass balls.” She told Glamour magazine: “Maternity leave - what's that? I've been working incredibly hard so I'm prepared for next season.”

It seems all the hard work has paid off as this preview of the 37-year-old’s new range has thrilled fashion critics worldwide.

What do you think of Beckham’s sporty designs? Do you prefer her former, more feminine collections or do you prefer this more casual line?
