Hair how-to: Vanessa Hudgens’ pretty plait on the Superstars for Hope red carpet

Get the look of the Spring Breakers actress’ gorgeous plaited hairstyle in five easy steps

Vanessa Hudgens sported a gorgeous, plaited hairstyle on the Superstars for Hope red carpet in Las Vegas last night.

The Spring Breakers actress styled her hair into a pretty plait on the top of her head, showing off her dip-dyed locks to perfection.

We spoke to industry experts to find out how to re-create the stunning look at home.

“We love the contrast of Vanessa’s blonde plait to her dark, deep brunette hair colour,” said Nikki Purcell, haircare expert at Paul’s Hair World.

“Dip Dying is a big trend at the moment with a range of home kits available for you to try the look yourself.”

Vanessa Hudgen’s pretty plait in five simple steps

1)    Start by backcombing your hair and loosely tonging the front section of it. Add beachy texture using a salt spray product – we love Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, from £9.50.

2)    Next, centre part your hair and split into two, equal sections – making sure to leave out the curled front area of your hair. Loosely plait both sections of hair and secure with a hair tie (if possible the same colour as your hair).

3)    Then, using your fingers, carefully pull each plait to give them a loose look like Vanessa’s.

4)    Take one of the plaits and pull directly over the top of your head, securing with clips. Repeat with the other plait, crossing over to the opposite side, again securing with clips. Remember to place the plait carefully, so all hair ties and clips and not visible.

5)    Finally, use your fingers to loosen the plait, and clips to secure into place, finishing the look with hairspray. You’re officially red carpet ready!

Top tip! If your hair isn’t long enough or you want to achieve Vanessa’s dip dye look without taking the plunge, dip dye clip in hair extensions are a great option. Simply clip in, style, and easily take out the extensions when you are done with the look.
