The must-see shows at London Fashion Week

The heart of new talent, London is once again on the hunt for fresh designers as Fashion Week takes hold of the capital. Old and new, here’s our edit of the best autumn/winter 2012 shows in the capital.

For timeless British elegance and luxury, DAKS’ autumn/winter 2012 collection is certain to not disappoint.

Defined by beautiful craftsmanship, simplicity and draping, DAKS is a label for the classic woman, as designer Sheila McKain-Waid describes, “She has a timeless, classic, elegance.

The DAKS woman is more about style and attitude.” The strong DAKS female was out in full force last season as models in post-war dress and technical pleats paraded the catwalk. Expect to be surprised for in the words of the DAKS lady herself “life is uncertain.”

Guaranteed to brighten the mood this season is colourful prints Turkish supremo Erdem. Known as the “Christian Lacroix of London” for his exceptional workmanship and avant-garde designs, we predict another rare collection from the young bold Turk.

Similarly, NEWGEN designer Holly Fulton is set to dazzle this season with her contemporary, luxurious geometric crystal and Perspex encrusted take on fashion. Inspired this season by “Rainbows, Kit Williams and what it means to be sexy and chic”, Holly’s autumn/winter 2012 collection looks set to be far from demure.

And top of the list is the Moschino Cheap and Chic show. Debuting at London Fashion Week, the younger Moschino line leaves the Milan catwalks to embrace the youthful vibrancy of London as it grows in autonomy. As Creative Director of Moschino, Rossella Jardini states,"To have presence in a new city gives the younger line a stronger, more autonomous personality. London is renowned for its contemporary style and famous sense of humour making it the perfect place to exhibit Moschino Cheap and Chic’s DNA and energy. I’m sure London will be the appropriate platform for this line to grow whilst still remembering its roots."

Indeed, we agree.
