Swimwear to suit your body shape

Nicky Hambleton-Jones shares her tips for finding the best swimwear

for you, whatever your shape.

Boyish

If you're looking to achieve a bit
more shape, dare to bare in a of-the-moment cut-out one-piece. I like this French Connection cut-away swimsuit, £40.

The cut-outs are strategically placed around the hips, which helps give the illusion of a synched waist and fuller hip. You can get away with strong patterns, bold colours and lots of detail. This look is less about camouflage and more about enhancement.

Pear
Always obey this one simple rule: your
top half needs to balance out your bottom half so find a piece with a block colour from the waist down and a bold, bright pattern from the waist up, like this one from Figleaves.

In doing so, you will make sure that you are minimising the look of your hips, thighs and bottom whilst maximising the shape of your bust and shoulders.

Hourglass

For this shape, you really must show
off your assets and opt for a one or two-piece that sets off your synched waist and full top and bottom.

You can try something with belt detail around the middle, like this halterneck bikini from Bravissimo, £24, which will naturally draw attention to the waist. If you aren't keen on showing off your midriff then try a deep plunge-necked swimsuit.

Apple
If you are self-conscious of your
tummy, there are plenty of control swimsuits on the high street. These clever panels will smooth your stomach, define your waist and give you a great bikini body.

Look for balconette-style swimsuits which are particularly feminine and will lift and support and emphasise your bust. This clever piece by Miraclesuit, £138, claims to make you look 10lbs lighter.
