How To Apply The Sun Kissed Bronzed Beauty Trend – SS12

Cleverly contouring with sunset shades, the beauty team making over the Michael Kors models sculpted skin with matte bronzer. Focussing on foreheads and cheek hollows, tawny toned powder was buffed onto faces to cast a sunlit glow across skin.

Peepers were given a golden lift with a dusting of pale eye shadow worked neatly into the inner corners of eyes, while brows were brushed into place and lips treated to a pale pink tint, to reference the pale lips beauty trend.

Follow suit and sun kiss skin by circling a matte bronzer across cheek apples and buffing a light dusting on the tip of your nose, chin and temples.

Bronzers aren’t just key for contouring or adding colour this summer - Clinique’s multi-tasking marvel is packed with oil-absorbing minerals to keep skin shine free. Enriched with antioxidants, the bronzer transforms from a pressed powder to a lightweight loose bronzer with the turn of a dial.

With its marvellously matt texture, Clinique’s latest bronzer and super soft brush are some of our favourite products for recreating the shimmer-free sun kissed skin spotted at Michael Kors’ summer show.

If your skin has yet to see the sun, for a radiant glow in a flash look no further than Lancôme’s liquid bronzer. The silky, terracotta-toned cream is available in two shades and blends effortlessly across skin providing an instant wash of colour that develops into a deep, golden tan within an hour.

The generous dose of SPF helps shield skin from the sun’s rays to fight fine-lines and wrinkles, while the active anti-ageing ingredients will leave your face firmer from the first application.

Use in place of a tinted moisturiser all over skin for a longer-lasting shot of colour this summer.

Backstage at Derek Lam’s spring summer 2012 show, make-up maestro Tom Pecheux created natural finish faces before subtly sun kissing skin with bronzing powder in sheer, saffron shades to delicately carve out contours.

Going for gold, upper eyelids were washed with a semi-matt buff eyeshadow while lips were painted with a clear gloss with just a hint of metallic tint.

If you’re sun-shy, channelling Pecheux’s natural approach to sun kissed skin with lightweight powders and liquid skin tints is an effortless way to crack the trend.

Forget BB creams and tinted moisturisers, with its silky, translucent gel packed full of beige and brown beads that burst to provide a shot of colour when rubbed on to your face, Givenchy’s Mister Radiant provides a made-to-measure glow and is a supreme way to subtly sun kiss skin.

Cleverly crafted so that you can pick how much product to use, dip a bronzer brush into St. Tropez’s bronzing rocks and buff onto cheekbones to contour, or stroke a bead straight onto skin and blend for a more solid shot of the sunset shade.

The pop of shimmer adds luxurious luminosity, without too much sparkle, to add colour to sun-starved skin or enhance an already jet-set tan.

Backstage at Tommy Hilfiger’s spring summer show, flawless skin provided a pristine backdrop for a smattering of bronze. The models’ lightly sun-kissed skin was reminiscent of lazy days spent in the sun; with just a veil of copper-coloured powder swept onto cheeks and misted over eyelids.

In keeping with the fresh-faced theme, lips were coloured with little more than a nude lipstick and blotted to shun shine.

One of the most wearable ways to tackle the trend - look out for sheer pressed powders and lightweight liquid bronzers, which are easy to blend and foolproof to apply.

Baked for a soft, silky texture – New CID’s pick-me-up powder for summer skin will cast a soft halo across skin. Swirl a bronzer brush into the pressed powder before tapping off the excess and sweeping across the top of cheekbones to reflect light and contour cheeks.

Swept across eyelids, this shimmer makes the perfect eyeshadow base to make any shade sing.

Usually reserved for adding luminosity to limbs, Illamasqua’s Illumine oil doubles up as a highlighter when blended across cheekbones, worked across collarbones or dotted on to any other spot the sun naturally hits.

Packed full of pearlised particles, passionflower and vitamin E, the nourishing oil is readily absorbed by skin so is spot on for adding a shot of sunlight to your face.
