Stylish and comfortable maternity bras perfect for summer

When you are pregnant, especially when the weather is warm and sunny, a good maternity bra that provides comfort and support without being too heavy and restricting is essential. I remember the difference it made to me when I invested in some decent new bras when pregnant, so I wanted to share my top five choices.

Amoralia Second Skin Organic Maternity Bra , £35

This is possibly the most comfortable, easy to wear maternity bra ever. It is made from 90 per cent GOTS certified organic cotton and 10 per cent t elastane, which makes it breathable and ideal for wearing on hot sunny days. The one thing I really like about this bra is the fact it has a low v cut which, believe it or not, is actually quite hard to find in maternity bras and makes wearing most light summer tops and dresses impossible. I highly recommend getting hold of one of these bras if you are pregnant.

    Royce Sadie Maternity Bra

    , £26

This is a lovely soft, comfortable maternity bra which contains X-STATIC® Silver Fibre, a 100 per cent natural and safe material which is proven to be thermo-regulating, and therefore is ideal for helping to stay cool in summer. It comes in a choice of three colours - pink, ivory and black - and gives great support, ensuring a lovely shape under summer tops and dresses.

Swappers Reversible Strapless Seamless Bra , £23.95

A strapless bra always comes in handy during the summer when you want to wear light summer tops and dresses. I was therefore very happy to come across the Swappers Reversible Strapless Seamless Bra. It is strapless, but comes with removable thin straps that give you extra support if you need it. But that's not all. It is also reversible, giving you two colour options in one. I like the fact it is moulded so doesn't just flatten your bust like some strapless bras but actually helps give shape. It is really comfortable to wear and I have even gone on to use it as a nursing bra.

HOTmilk True Love Padded Soft Cup Maternity Nursing Bra , around £36.50

I am a huge fan of Hotmilk Maternity and Nursing bras not just for their comfort, but also for their gorgeous designs - which mean that you don't have to stop wearing sexy bras just because you are pregnant or nursing. This is one of my favourites at the moment. It has smooth cups, which make it really comfortable to wear, and underwire support, pretty ruched shoulder straps and sparkly diamante detail to the centre front and an embroidered design to the main. I would consider this more than just an everyday bra but one for special occasions or those days when you feel you need something to cheer you up and make you feel good about your changing shape.

Hotmilk bras are widely available to purchase online in places such as ASOS where it is priced at £36.50 with matching briefs also available. Go on treat yourself to something pretty, I can guarantee you will feel great wearing this bra.

    Mothercare 2 Pack Maternity Nursing Sleep Bras - Black/White , £20

Whether you are pregnant in winter or summer I highly recommend getting hold of comfortable sleep bras. They are great for giving you that much needed extra support while pregnant and will also come in handy later on if you are breastfeeding. They really are an essential purchase. I love these ones from Mothercare as they are extremely comfortable being made of 100 per cent cotton which makes them breathable and soft and they also have a drop clip making night feeding easy. They come in sizes 8 to 20 and are priced at £20 for a pack of two.
