Stella McCartney stylish in her own jumpsuit design - single-handedly brings back the look
Fashion designer with a penchent for jumpsuits shows us how to wear the throwback piece
Stella McCartney has almost single-handedly brought back the jumpsuit.
The British designer wore a sultry, black jumpsuit, from her own collection, to her Stella McCartney party in Shanghai, alerting us once again to the fact that the one-piece so popular in the 70s and 80s, is back for the 2010s.
The design Stella chose for the party is a flattering, silky black grown-up onesie, with structured shoulders and elbow-length sleeves, which balances out the gathers of fabric around the hips for an hourglass shape.

The jumpsuit is synched in at the waist with a black leather, cross-over buckled belt and Stella pairs the look with black, gladiator sandals and a Kate Middleton-sized, shimmering petrol-effect clutch.
Thanks largely to Stella (with a little help from Valentino and Balmain), the jumpsuit is making a definite comeback this season, as worn on red carpets by fans of the style, such as Miley Cyrus and Kristen Stewart.

Kristen, 23, wore an unusual wine-coloured, lacey jumpsuit designed by Stella herself, to the Met Ball earlier this month.
Miley has wowed in two different jumpsuit designs recently, a classic by Valentino for the Maxim Hot 100 party and the other, a crochet, black and white diamond design by Balmain at the 2013 Billboard Awards.
Other stars who've rocked the look include Rebecca Hall, Miranda Kerr, Rita Ora and even 12-year-old Willow Smith
Worn well, the one-piece combines style and glamour with practicality (at least until a visit to the bathroom is needed), and is ideal for tomboys who want to jazz up their usual trouser-based outfits, and celebs who have trouble exiting cars and walking red carpets without flashing. But beware, the jumpsuit is not a universally flattering item of clothing (as demonstrated by Nayer in a black and white monstrosity and Kylie in denim).
Accessorise lightly, as this look works best when kept simple. Choose a style with an accentuated waist and wide shoulders to balance the outfit and make up for the usually-tapered legs. Not recommended for anyone with hips.
