Singapore Airlines’ New Lounge At Heathrow: The Best Part Of Your Holiday?

Lush food and free flowing Champagne – so give yourself enough time to enjoy it

Just after we got married (April 10th), Singapore Airlines opened its new SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow, T2. Talk about perfect timing.

We were flying with the airline for our honeymoon to Bali (via Singapore) and though we’d only plumped for economy flights, Yahoo Travel had been invited to visit the new lounge on its opening – so we were lucky enough to get a sneaky peak into the sleek world beyond.

Inside the lounge is as beautifully designed and chic as you’d expect from Singapore-based design agency ONG & ONG – all smooth leather, welcoming seats and carefully arranged private pods.

The ‘home from home’ aim is nailed, with friendly staff, cosy corners to settle in, a selection of magazines and an array of food - both home favourites and the airline’s signature ‘taste of Singapore’.

We sampled a bit of both – the Eggs Benedict were superb and the Nasi Goreng perhaps better than anything we tried when we eventually did arrive in Bali.

Vitamins shots, smoothies and cold breakfasts are all laid out with artistic precision and everything looks almost too good to eat.

First and Business passengers (and lucky us for one morning only) are treated to as much Champagne as they’d like (Laurent Perrier in First, natch), as well as a fully stocked bar and trained bartender so you can toast any special occasion with the perfect tipple.

The lounge is located right by the Singapore gates, meaning that we put off running for the plane right until the final call (and were still there in plenty of time).

But the lounge is such a calming experience and lovely way to start a special trip I really wish we’d got there a bit early and spent a little longer soaking up the ambiance before our 13-hour flight.

An airport experience worth getting up extra early for – I’m as surprised as you.

Find out more about the new lounge and drop in next time you're at Terminal 2.
