The last thing we want to do on hot summer mornings is be a slave to our straighteners. When the sun is shining I ditch my heated styling tools in favour of a quicker and simpler look. The best styles for summer are the ones that keep your locks out of your face and off your neck, but still look pretty at the same time. Here's a round-up of my top go-to summer hairstyles.
Braided boho bun
Every time summer rolls around, the boho trend re-emerges. Summer hair should be sexy and undone so boho textured styles are the perfect laidback way to wear your locks for festivals, summer holidays and balmy days. A cute braided bun is super-easy to do but still looks chic when paired with your favourite maxi or summer dress. Part your hair down the middle and create two French braids down either side of your head. Braid until you reach the nape of your neck. Pull the remaining hair into a messy bun and pin into position. Keep your French braids loose and chunky and your bun messy to nail this look.
No-heat big hair
If you want big, glamorous hair for a wedding or special occasion, you don't need to sweat it out using your curling tongs. Soft squishy rollers that you can sleep in are creating a big buzz in the beauty industry. Wrap dry hair around soft rollers, like Sleep in Rollers before hitting the sack. Remove the following morning to reveal big, bouncy hair. Leave your hair loose and flowing or sweep into a glamorous bouncy ponytail to match your mood.
Textured beach waves
After washing your hair, don't automatically reach for your hairdryer. My hair has a slight natural wave so I like to spritz a texturizing spray through it and leave it to dry naturally for beachy waves during the summer. If your hair is poker-straight, spritz a texture-enhancing product onto damp hair, such as Fudge's Medium Hold Bodifying Salt-Enhanced Texture Spray, braid then leave to dry. Remove the braid once your hair is dry for sweet and summery waves.
Want your face to be totally free from your hair? A chic ballerina bun should be the way to go. If you need a style for a glam occasion, reach for a bun ring to help pump up the volume. Wear your bun perched high on top of your head or low at the nape of your neck.
The fishtail braid may take some practice but once you get the knack of it you'll fall in love with this pretty but polished style. I like to wear mine over one shoulder and always get complemented whenever I wear my hair in this way.
