Fancy a killer workout that will also benefit a good cause? Then take part in NSPCC’s Step Change event

NSPCC's Step Change 2012: The Gherkin Challenge helps raise funds for ChildLine by having participants climb the 38 flights of stairs at 30 St Mary Axe - aka the Gherkin - in the City of London on Sunday 4 March. This is the third year of the challenge and their goal is to raise £200,000.
The NSPCC is the UK’s leading children's charity specialising in child protection with their goal to end child cruelty. ChildLine is a service provided by NSPCC that is a free, 24-hour helpline that provides assistance for children that are in danger or distress. For every £20 raised ChildLine could help another five children who call the hotline.
Olympic champion hurdler Sally Gunnell is supporting the event. As a mother of three, Gunnell explains, 'It’s an opportunity to see the fantastic views from the top of the Gherkin, but more importantly, a chance to support ChildLine’s vital services during its 25th anniversary year. What more could you ask for on a Sunday morning?!...Enter today and help ChildLine to protect vulnerable children.'
Anyone can get involved whether you want to participate individually, as a group or even as a family. The entry fee is £20 per individual, £70 per team of four or £20 per adult and £10 per child for the family registration. Participants are also encouraged to gain additional sponsorship.
If you want in on the action, then don't delay: throughout February, the NSPCC is offering two for the price of one on individual and team registrations.
Want more of an incentive? After 'Gherkineers'run up the 38 flights of stairs they reach the Gherkin's bar with breathtaking views of the city, complete with a celebratory glass of bubbly.
If the 38 flights of stairs (or 1,037 steps!) seems insurmountable don't worry you can still participate: purchase a ‘champagne lift pass’ for £75 and help out a good cause without feeling the burn in your calves. Children also get in for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
