Piers Atkinson is one of the hottest talents in the world of millinery, having delighted fashion fans with the oversized cherry headpieces that were perched on many an editor’s head last season. His work is always innovative, theatrical and extremely beautiful, often with a touch of unexpected mystique – no doubt his S/S ’12 collection, called ‘Hot Voodoo’, will be full of surprises!
As a little side-line to his main collection, Piers has created this brilliant ‘I Love Anna’ headpiece, made from neon blue plexiglass on a candy pink band. The name ‘Anna’ could well be a respectful nod towards one or all of fashion’s favourite ladies who go by that moniker. It could reference the milliner’s muse, fashion editor Anna Dello Russo, who is a big fan of his hats, or perhaps another famous millinery-wearer, Anna Piaggi. Of course, it could be a tribute to the most famous Anna of all, Ms Wintour – but whichever Anna has inspired this piece, we are sure they would all look great wearing it. Not that anyone would need help remembering their names!
