At last the so called celebrities are making a stand about being charged ridiculous sums of money for clothes that are produced for peanuts, but just because they are designed by over hyped so called dress makers are sold at ridiculous prices.

I think many of the celebrities don't actually pay for the clothes . . . . They are a walking advertisment for the designer.

In addition, please note that the craftsmanship that goes into a designer gown is nothing that an ordinary "dress maker" could possibly design or make. That's why the charge is so high for couture dresses.

Many women wear extremely expensive designer dresses and they look awful .Their frocks sometimes seem to be curtains they borrowed from their granny's houses, just like Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind.
Michelle Williams looks stunning in her subtle elegant dress. I just think the flower could have been a bit more rich and detailed , with a few sparkly bits and little feathers sticking out.

But that is just my opinion.

Michelle is so pretty & she shows how beautiful a girl can look in a high street dress, well done to her.

The simplest , less cluttered lines of this dress look every bit as good as a designer dress, that is made well, looking sophisticated, alluring and attractive.

Lovely dress, nice hair, gorgeous skin, good make-up, beautiful smile, cute shoes, meh! necklace... But why is she carrying a book? Is it a bag? A "book" bag? Is this the new "thing"? Are all the celebs going to be carrying things that are really bags now? Will Paris Hilton be carring the hollowed out carcass of one of her dogs as a bag tomorrow?

Slightly off subject but, why does Yahoo! allow blatant misrepresentation on their home page advertisements - re 'Miracle wrinkle treatment' ?
Stop trying to insult our intelligence with fake 'Photoshop' images!

Yes the 'Healing Brush Tool' doesn't really fool anyone does it!

Why should fashion critics be shocked - she looks lovely in a simply elegant dress unlike some of the freakish horror produced by so-called 'top designers'. You don't have to pay a fortune to look good - it doesn't matter whether it costs a £100 or £2000, a dress will only look good if it suits the wearer.

Thanks E. Common sense at last!

"But this wasn’t you average H&M bargain piece - it was a bespoke gown designed especially for Michelle."

So it actually wasn't a high street dress - it was a "bespoke" designer dress which probably would have cost the same as a dress by Gucci or D&G to make. It is not a dress which Joe Public could walk into H&M and buy therefore it is not high street...

Good on her! It is so nice to see someone standing up for what she wants rather than bowing to the pressure of what is expected from the Designers and press.

Common sense reigns at last, though I doubt the snooty fashion business has much to worry about, there's allways someone who wants to buy a named product, including many kids of parents who can least afford them.

If you can't buy it on the high street, its not high street!
